This vs M2 16gb? Worth extra money?
Having tried both out recently, probably not. The M3 is faster (though not by a ton), the storage is faster (but it's not like the M2's was noticeably slow), it has WiFi 6E and can do two external monitors. Oh and the Midnight color gets fewer fingerprints over the M2 model. That's about it for differences.
If you care about future-proofing, sure the M3 model will be supported for one extra year over the M2, but both of these chips are good, so I don't think it's worth the extra money (especially if you can get the M2 for $750 - that's a lot of computer for the price).

I'm indifferent at $750 vs $899. The advantages of the M3 model are worth exactly $150 in my view.
If the M3 were $850, it'd be a clear buy to me. If it were $950, the M2 would be a clear buy.
But the other poster is right that the M2 model is a lot of machine for $750; if someone has a financial situation where the extra $150 really matters, buy the M2 and be happy.
I bought the M2 for $750… but am returning it for the $900 M3 ( same specs). Largely bc I plan to have it for a while and over that life span, the less FINGER PRINTS, and simply being a year newer were worth it to me. Over 5 years that's $30 a year. Or a meal.
Tempted to return my 16GB M2 and pickup this M3. Any insight on if Costco may offer the M3 at $899?
i wonder if costco will put this model on sale only after their m2 deal expires on 17th. amazon and bb are both coming out with deals sooner. but costco seems to beat them on price by a bit.
