This version does not have the power button and volume control on the side. It may be a deal breaker for some. For me the volume control is a must have
FYI - this model has been discontinued since 2017
For all that is unholy about Anthony Wood's suspenders [futurecdn.net], DO NOT BUY this Roku Premiere.

It is the 2018 model (3920) [roku.com] that is now limited to Walmart distribution (the white case and the 3920RW model number are the dead giveaways) that only supports the 2.4 GHz wireless band.

Save up your Starbucks money and spend a little more for the Roku Express 3960 model or Express 4K models (3940/3941).

I would avoid Fire Sticks. Honestly, I'd go with the Onn 4k box. It runs Android TV and doesn't have the Amazon bloat.

Roku app on iphone works great and if you use roku on a firetv and you have also the firetv app which also works great, then you can raise and lower the volume with that app

I agree. Fire sticks are weird. It resembles something that should be given away by Amazon.

The video quality looks cheap compared to my Sony's OS or external streamers.
You're better off with a Roku or Onn streamer.

I would get this mostly for travel. Does anyone have any experience with captive networks and the Hotel and Dorm Connect feature on Roku? I have tried the captive network feature on my fire stick in several hotels, and it doesn't work well at all.

I would pass on this model unless it's for a spare TV you rarely use. Get a more robust model. Over the long run you'll be happy you spent a bit more.

These use an IR remote instead of Bluetooth. I happened to have a spare universal remote that supports Roku codes and am using it in my workshop. It's not perfect, as it has to be set to TV control to turn on the TV, then switch to AUX to control the Roku. TV volume still works while the remote is in Roku mode. Not worth buying a separate remote, but it's an option if someone already has a cheap universal IR remote that will work.

I current have previous gen of fire tv max and was looking to upgrade. but yeah the fire tvs are ok at first but then start lagging later.

Also, it feels like movies that are 4K dont consistently play in 4k/HDR. Is that a problem with the stick or my TV?
