Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Are you sure ATT cannot be unlocked in 60 days? Just bought one…

multiple times and no issues , till now. Safest deal as long as you follow all steps
If the order does go through, is there any chance that I would be stuck, being unable to pay it off? or for example be stuck having the full 879$ due on me?

You can't . Line has to be active for 60 days . So 170$ extra for 60 day service

If you are doing an upgrade, you should check to see if you have a loyalty offer. For example, we recently upgraded a line for an iPhone 16 Pro for $5 a month after credits (could have been a 16 free), over 36 months - no trade required, and was able to keep the line in Unlimited Welcome. If you are planning on staying with Verizon, that's probably a good deal.

Same if you plan on adding a line - chances are there are better offers as well.

This is a great deal to get the phone at a great price.

14 Pro Max for $550 with similar Walmart deal was better. Hope they bring 15 Plus or Pro Max deal for TG week.

14 was the worst iPhone 'upgrade' ever, just new colors on 13 + crash detection/satellite messaging.

I've had issues in the past with an Xr and then an 11. One of them I was never charged for ever by Verizon. The other one, they caught up after six months and started charging then. Those deals at the time were full price in 24 months, but a $400 gift card at time of purchase.

I have no idea but I have never heard any att devices being able to unlock as easily as Verizon's 60 days policy right now. But if that's possible, I would like to know that as well 😉

So the order of steps are:

Order phone
Go in store and pay off the phone
Before 3 days after activation cancel the Verizon line

so what happens if you are unable to pay off the phone in store is what I am curious about

I'm not on unlimited. I wonder I should upgrade to unlimited just to get that instead.
