Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

For some reason the phone is not activating even after contacting Verizon. Can I return it to Walmart even though I opened it. And will I be charged by Verizon for 36 months?
I had same issue last year. I was told sim is faulty and they sent me sim card but that didn't work. I had to visit a store and they fixed it but it took them an hour in store to activate it. All this process of shippping phone, replacement sim and going to a store took about 10 days and verizon had billed me about 70-80$ in the meantime because they start billing once walmart processes your order.

Ordered on 11/11 nightShipped on 11/12 and got it on 11/13I made a verizon account thru verizon app then linked the service using the phone number after the phone got shipped. I also added a payment method to the account. After I got the phone, I turned it on to connect to a wifi to make sure it's activated (not sure if this matters). Called the number from a post in this thread and said "pay off device". Got to use the payment method on the account to pay without talking to an agent. Then chat with an agent to cancel the line and confirm I'd get activation fee back and the phone will be unlocked automatically after 60 days. Total would be taxes on sale price + $299 + 2 or 3 days of services.
Hi, what plan did you choose in VZ and what is the number to call?

This work well for me because I have unlimited plan and will stay with AT&T for the next 3 years. Most people only want to buy the phone $300 then unlock and use it on different carrier or non-unlimited plan. The trade in toward $1000 iPhone 15 is technically the contract AT&T tight you to them for 36 months. If you cancel the line, you have to pay the remaining months. Example : if I cancel the line with iPhone 15 at 2nd months it will be 34 x $ 24 = $816 that I have to pay ATT back, or else the phone will be blacklist . If you go to ATT website you will see ATT selling iPhone 14 at $629.99. this deal Walmart is the one selling the iPhone 14 for $299 ( 36 x $8.3) Which you paid it off and then cancel the new line. You already paid off the phone, you don't own AT&T any money so they can't blacklist the phone
Looking at the AT&T web site...is the deal for $1000 off the iPhone 15 pro max even available? It is saying $20.99 with bill credits (multiplied by 36 months is a total of $755.64, which is only $344.25 off of the full price of the iPhone 15 pro max...and given that you are paying $299 for this iPhone 14 as well...you would be saving about $50 on an iPhone 15 pro max...and I think have an extra iPhone 14 that you don't need to trade in for the iPhone 15 PM).

It looks like the iPhone 16 Pro line is the only ones with the $1000 value trade-in deals at this time. You could get the regular iPhone 15 for cheaper than the Walmart iPhone 14 deal (though presumably with the lower storage of 128 GB), currently at $5.99 per month for 36 months (the Walmart iPhone 14 deal for either 128 OR 256 GB, whichever you bought, costs $8.31 per month), and for the iPhone 15 AT&T deal you just need bill credits for 36 months. Which you wrote that you wanted to go with a 36-month commitment to AT&T per your post anyway.

Any reason you didn't want the iPhone 16 pro max? You'd probably pay less over 36 months.

For me also able to see phone and number in my verizon account. Question is do i still need wait for receiving email about ALL SET from Verizon or i can go and pay off as it was showing in the account. Did you already canceled? Or waiting for phone to receive physically and then cancel.

One more thing your date of order placement and date of receiving the email?

Was the email received from Verizon after shipped?
Sort of...
So they printed a shipping label from fedex home delivery. Supposedly it was scanned at Davenport Florida. But in reality it was shipped out of Connecticut.

Kind of confusing but verizon activated it on their end, as a few others mentioned

This is my first time doing a verizon deal like this

Does anyone else see the coverage has expired? Thought this would be a new phone. Maybe Verizon is sending refurbished phones?

So here is something I noticed when I purchased an iPhone 13 from Tracfone .

Apple no longer starts the 1 year warranty when you open/start up the phone.
They now go by when that company purchased it from Apple.

I'm not sure how accurate it is but it's something I noticed this year. They may give a small grace period but let's say verizon had these stored for several months, that's when Apple goes by the warranty.

Go on sickw dot com and it should tell you an estimated date when the warranty started or expired

For those looking into other phones, per the guy working at the phone counter at my local Walmart… on the actual Black Friday, iPhone 15 will have a $500 GC and iPhone 16 will have a $300 GC.

I took the 14 deal, as I cared more about the monthly payment. My wife is waiting for the 15, so she can get the camera upgrade.

I hope this helps anyone holding on to a possible better BF deal, like I was!
Great deal when you're upgrading/buy more than one line bc you can use the first gift card as a downpayment toward the second device.

Mine shows an estimated purchase date of 11/2022 and expired coverage. Apple said they will reset the purchase date if I upload a copy of the sales receipt on the Apple support portal. Sounds like that's our next step.

After placing the order, I received an email from Walmart with Activation instructions. Do we need to activate the Verizao phone after receiving it and is it already activated? Verizon customer care sent me my 1st bill and they already added activation charges.

Did anyone have to sign for delivery? I have one coming FedEx and my other one says Lasership - just not familiar with how Lasership works if you're not home to sign.

The email from Verizon probably was sent the day after. Online, you should be able to see a PDF with all the details including the effective activation date. This is the start of the 3 and 60 day clocks.

Is this for lines that you would have to sign up with either AT&T or Verizon Postpaid plans (just like this iPhone 14 deal)?

Also I wonder what they will price the iPhone 15 as, because currently it's $18.09/month, or approximately $649 total cost. With a gift card for $500, it wouldn't be a bad deal. But one downside to more expensive phones is that you have more money invested in it from the outset. I guess for people who spend lot at Walmart on a regular basis, this would be good. Or as another commenter wrote, if for those who still want to remain loyal to Verizon or AT&T for the next 36 months and who want to upgrade more than one phone to use one gift card (provided they get the gift card delivered instantly) as a down payment toward a second device.
