Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Great deal when you're upgrading/buy more than one line bc you can use the first gift card as a downpayment toward the second device.
Do you think the gift card would be delivered right away? People would only have one day (Black Friday) to get the deal.

I placed my order at 11:50 PM EST on 11/12. Is anyone else still stuck in the 'Preparing' stage on their order status with the same time frame?

Can you post the link?
Also, does your verizon order show the imei and/or serial number of the device ?
On the online account, go to Account -> Bills --> Documents & Receipts, then look for Customer Agreement. There should be two of these. One is a PDF with barcodes and IMEI info for the device. Hopefully that would be good to upload to Apple.

Mine shows an estimated purchase date of 11/2022 and expired coverage. Apple said they will reset the purchase date if I upload a copy of the sales receipt on the Apple support portal. Sounds like that's our next step.
Hmm - the Service Summary PDF includes the IMEI and ICCID but does not include the device's serial number.

I was joking with a coworker that recently bought a new 13 mini from eBay sealed that showed the warranty expired, that he got a used phone.

your account will be active automatically when you open the package and turn on the phone. Create a new account with Verizon website using your new phone no and attach credit card before calling 800-837-4966 from your new device to pay off everything. After pay off, chat or call Verizon to close your new line. you can do everything from Home and no need to go to store.

If you know your new phone number and if it is active you can pay off. I believe this option is only available if you upgrade or added a new existing verizon account

Is this for lines that you would have to sign up with either AT&T or Verizon Postpaid plans (just like this iPhone 14 deal)?

Also I wonder what they will price the iPhone 15 as, because currently it's $18.09/month, or approximately $649 total cost. With a gift card for $500, it wouldn't be a bad deal. But one downside to more expensive phones is that you have more money invested in it from the outset. I guess for people who spend lot at Walmart on a regular basis, this would be good. Or as another commenter wrote, if for those who still want to remain loyal to Verizon or AT&T for the next 36 months and who want to upgrade more than one phone to use one gift card (provided they get the gift card delivered instantly) as a down payment toward a second device.

Sams club has the same deal $300 GC off on Iphone 16 now with new line transfer.

I have AT&T service currently and just want to use this phone with my current number and service. For a few reasons, the upgrade option seemed less than ideal for my situation, so I just signed up for new service.

Based on the discussions in this thread, it sounds like once I receive the phone, my steps should be:

1. activate the phone
2. pay it off
3. cancel service within three days of activation
4. get the physical sim in my current phone reassigned to the 14 as an eSim

Anyone done this before? I dont need the phone to be unlocked, I just need to transfer my sim/current number to it. Primarily, I just want to make sure I dont screw something up and make the phone unusable with my current att account. If anyone has some experience with a scenario like this, I would appreciate your insight.

Here is my experience so far:

To preface this I already had a Verizon account but it was a Verizon Home account (FIOS) not a mobile account.
Ordered 2 phones on 11/12 (both as new accounts but used my Verizon account email address)
Shipped 11/14 - Estimated delivery 11/18
Got 2 emails that the email address associated with each respective account was changed (I'm assuming because the email address was associated with a Verizon Home account not a Verizon mobile account)
Attempted to add one phone number to my account but would not let me without verifying against a text from phone which I obviously did not have yet.
Attempted to add a Verizon One ID to combine my home account with a mobile account which asks for a mobile phone number and doing this I was successfully able to link 1 of my 2 new devices to my Verizon account.
I see the device in my Verizon account with the esim ID so I believe Verizon authorizes the esim for the device as soon as it ships.
I was NOT able to link my 2nd phone to my account as it still needs a verification via text.

Now I will wait until phones arrive, turn them on and ensure they are active on Verizon network, get the 2nd one linked to my account. Then I will follow the instructions in this thread to add cc, payoff devices, and use chat to cancel service. I expect to pay the activation fee+prorated service.

My phone was shipped 2 days back from CA but no movement since then. Will there be any email from Verizon once activated? Haven't got any so far.

Same with me. Sitting without update for 2 days. Only FedEx label was created. My guess is Walmart logistics handles it for some distance before it hands over to Fedex.
