Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

I searched for it, I found nothing. I'm guessing you mean "Deal Details" or "Community Notes" below the iPhone picture and the "Community Voting" Thumbs?
On desktop, sometimes I do not find it but in app it should look like this

I was just checking the deal. Do we need to go through the same steps to unlock it? Plus in terms they mentioned $300 Walmart gc for 16+ iPhones and $350-$500 for 15
Yes, we do. And we should not disconnect the line before receiving the phone if buying online to get the gift card. For this one, it is better if getting it in store. Cancelation is easily within 3 days of activation.

How long before you guys see the final bill? It's been 48 hours and I was told how much the final bill would be but it still shows the old amount of $125.08 when I log into the link to pay an inactive verizon account: https://www.verizon.com/digital/n...tp/login#/
I spoke to customer service and he said he saw the notation to remove the $35 activation fees and that it was cancelled on 11/19/2024. He said final bill should be around $15 or less but I would have to wait until December. He said to ignore the current bill and that there will not be a late charge since it shows it was cancelled 11/19/2024.
BTW all the steps in the WIKI works. Also write down your account number if you activated the phone on Verizon or download the first month bill in PDF.
Since I do not want to risk it being locked, I waited until I have the phone in hand and activated the Verizon line. Added a credit card and use the robo prompt to pay off the balance and chat to disconnect the line. Also did the Apple thing and uploaded the customer agreement with the IMEI and it now shows the correct purchase date and one year warranty.

There is a better deal coming up for iPhone 16 and 15 at Walmart like last year, starting Nov 25:
https://www.walmart.com/cp/wirele...ns/3558588 [walmart.com]
Much better than this deal. Now I wish I did not jump into this deal :d
What will be the net out of pocket cost for this deal?

  • Save up to $1,000: bill credits of $27.78/month over 36 months with trade-in of eligible smartphone valued at $230 or higher for iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max.
36 months of bill credits and a e-gift card, what am I missing that makes the upcoming deal "better" that this deal?

Edit, I did the math on purchasing the iPhone 15 125gb model without a trade in and it works out to be around the price of the iPhone 14 250gb in this thread. I'm assuming the gift card is the equivalent of cash for you and your state tax rate isn't too ridiculous.

The link you posted came up with an "android_app" suffix, and nothing comes up when clicking on that link. I tried searching for "wiki" and "community wiki" on this page and the main Slickdeals site. Any other info is appreciated.
I had to got back to the very first page and click on the Community Notes tab. You will then see a page like this;

If I am understanding it correctly and consider GC as cash then it looks like this for current monthly payment ?

If it's bill credits requiring a monthly unlimited plan which has to be added to the calculation, then can you still cancel?

I have no idea regarding bill credits and how it works. Additionally no idea if it needs to be on 3 years service. May be others can help or I will wait once someone will post. I am looking for one more iphone to upgrade the old 8plus. So, i just did some calculations to see what will be my out of pocket for another upgrade.

Bill credits are what ATT pays you each month that you can deduct from your monthly plan payment. Let's say in order to get this deal, you have to get a monthly plan requiring payment of $75 each month, your net cost over 3 years will be 75X36-20.81X36-350~=$1600 for an iPhone 15 with 256 gb. In other words, the phone will be free, but you will get a subsidized monthly wireless plan, sort of.

By contrast, the iPhone 14 deal costs over 3 years: 300+15x36 (for Tmobile prepaid 5gb data monthly plan that I use) = $840.

Oh okay! It makes sense now. May be then it might not be useful for me. I will wait. Thank you for explaining it.

For example, If you chose the iPhone 15 with 125gb memory, the rough price without trade in will be; $18.08 x 36 = $648.72 + your state tax + possible activation fee of $35 + up to one month of service $75 - $350 Walmart gift card. If you also take advantage of the trade in program and plan on staying with either carrier, you will be receiving the trade in value over 36 months.
If I am reading the terms right and do not have a trade in, the iPhone 15 125gb after $350 gift card should be around $298.72, not including the applicable sales tax, activation, and air time. Obviously I'm equating the GC to cash, ymmv.

This looks right. Trade in billing credit is optional. You dont have to stay with them 36 months for gift card.

Thank you for confirming. I think there is already another thread on this. I will read more into this over the next 4days to make sure if I am doing the right thing, atleast this time. 🤞🏻
