All current Tracfone , Straight Talk, Total Wireless, Simple Mobile ONLY operates and activates on the Verizon Network exclusively. That's cause Verizon bought all of them. So any new phone will unlock in 60 days from ALL of them.

This has been your PSA.

$262 otd to California. After reading 25 pages, here's my summary:

1. Use PayPal to get 7.5% back by logging into your PayPal account and search for promos, select StraightTalk. Will take you directly to StraightTalk site. That's what i did.
2. Chase card has 15% promo but caps at $15 discount, based on other users. I do not have Chase.
3. Purchase iPhone 13 with Silver plan. Must be Silver or higher to get $200 phone discount.
4. Do not select autopay to see PayPal payment option.
5. You can ship to different address if you're gifting it. They just need to understand the terms if they plan to unlock and use elsewhere or just stay with StraightTalk.
6. New phone needs to be activated, through StaightTalk online, for 60-day unlock countdown to begin. Phone does not need to be opened/used.
7. After the 30 plan expires, do not purchase another plan. Use it on WiFi or not at all.
8. After 60 days, phone will automatically unlock for any carrier.
9. Text "UNLOCK" to 611611 to confirm/see countdown.
10. Hope all goes well for us all.

You don't need to do anything. It should get unlocked after 60 days. Some rare case it didn't get unlocked, go https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/ and give the imei (and the phone number you got) and it will let you "reprocess" the unlock request online, if you still can't get it unlocked, you just call the phone number on that web page and they will unlock it for you. With that said, most time it will get unlocked automatically and you don't need to do anything.

Thank you for letting me know of the FCC rules. You are correct. I have not received the phones yet as I just ordered them and, yes, I am worried about porting out of ST (not worried about porting in - assuming that will happen if I provide info). However, I did create an account when I bought the phones and I happened to be checking the status of my orders and was scrolling through the my account page.On the bottom, they have a number transfer pin request section and they spell out the locked number restriction for pin transfer. Considering any phone is locked only for 60 days, I am not sure how this short term lockage would play out for pin transfer. It's my 1st time with ST. I have also had the number for two decades, so I don't want to risk idling it for a month just to avoid paying an extra month of service. I need to port out of Mint asap so I may just park my real number somewhere else for cheap and just request a new number (less thinking, lower risk).
I hope it works out. Let us all know if, once you active the phone and finish the port in, whether Straight Talk might allow you to generate a transfer PIN.

I also have one number that is most important to me and I'm wary of porting that one around for deals. I have another number for that. I personally don't need to port my important away from T-Mobile at this time, but am wondering about good ideas for parking my other two numbers for cheap because both don't have an online history associated with anybody else (on Google search). I guess both Google Voice and Number Barn, but I've read that both can take days to complete the port? It's just less convenient, but I guess cheaper to do.

FYI it costs $20 to port number to GV but then it's usable on any phone as well as the carrier provided number.

This is very new to me so please excuse my dumb questions. After reading all the comments, this is my udnerstanding. I just need to buy the phone with the silver unlimited plan. Comes out to $267.22 for me. Activate the phone online when I get the phone? Wait 60 days and it wll unlock. After that, I can just pop my T-Mobile SIM from my iPhone XR over to the iPhone 13 and start using?

Hi. I normally don't post, so please go easy on me. I bought two phones this morning and was planning on porting over one of my actively used numbers over from Mint.
However, I was just in my online account and noticed that you CANNOT request a number transfer pin if your number is locked. I am assuming "number is locked" means "phone is locked".
So, yes, the phone will auto-unlock after 60 days with one-month of active service (I did this Total by Verizon).
BUT, if you are porting over an actively used number that you are not going to dispose of, I am assuming you would need two months of service. I am not absolutely sure of this port out issue, but I most likely will not be porting in an actively used number now.
number lock is added layer feature some carriers have that allow you to turn on / off to prevent your number from being transferred without authorization (aka stolen). It's not the same thing as a carrier billing lock.

Will do! Also I am not sure what you consider cheap, but I like US Mobile. My main and travel number are on that. They have a snooze function that's roughly $2.50 a month (after you sign up and activate one month of any service). I have read (on reddit) that there are cheaper ways (like way less than a dollar) to park a number, but I have personally never done that (seems sketchy?). I use the snooze function on my secondary number for when I have family traveling for long durations internationally. I will probably park the number I was going to port into ST into a Light Plan at US Mobile. Don't use that much data, just wanted a nicer phone. Smilie. Thanks again.

I already have the straight talk iphone SE 2022 which I got cheap ($49+$35 plan) with a Walmart deal on November 2023. It has the same exact processor and actually was released after the iphone 13. It seems redundant to get this as an upgrade. The biggest con is a 6.1" display. It is really hard to go back to small screen/small battery when I have been using like 6.5" and bigger phones with large batteries. Display size and battery (endurance/fast charging) are high priorities for me nowadays.
I picked up a couple of the ST SE 3 during that same deal last year, except I got them online from ST rather than at a Walmart store (the Walmart near me didn't have any). The intent was to use the two SE as hotspot providers when traveling overseas and have our "main" phones tethered to them. We used them over the summer like this and they worked surprisingly well. I originally had concerns about the smaller battery in the SE but it turns out that battery life wasn't an issue when they were used purely as hotspot providers. And when we did need to charge them using a battery pack, it didn't take long to charge them up to a decent level. However, the lack of MagSafe on the SE was inconvenient as we had gotten used to using wireless portable batteries with our main phones, though now that I think about it we could have gotten around the lack of MagSafe by using cases with MagSafe rings.

Despite our success in using our SE as hotspots, carrying two phones in my pants pocket got a bit annoying and there were times when I wanted to use the SE as my main device so I wouldn't have to carry 2 phones. When using the SE 3 as my main phone, I had a hard time getting used to the smaller screen. In addition, the reduced battery life from having a smaller battery was readily apparent. Finally, the small storage space of 64GB started to become an issue - I had to be selective about which apps I installed. This is why we were looking at "upgrading" to the iPhone 13 for our travel phones.

I've actually just recently purchased two iPhone 13 from the latest Metro deal, but those have a 365 day unlock. And while the total cost of this ST 13 deal is a bit higher, when the 10 month shorter unlock period is factored in it's a no-brainer for us - not only are we getting phones that will unlock 10 months sooner (and hence be able to use on international trips early next year and next summer), there's also less depreciation from our SE 3 which we can sell now vs. a year from now. The resale value of the SE 3 isn't that great to begin with, but once the SE 4 goes on sale I'm sure the value of the SE 3 is going to tank.

So anyways, this is what one gains going from the SE 3 to 13:
-larger screen
-larger battery
-64GB vs 128GB (comparing base to base)
-better cameras (front as well as rear, also 2 cameras in the rear vs 1)
-MagSafe
-better resale value (especially after the SE 4 is released)

Now I just need to figure out what to do with my two Metro 13. They've been opened and activated but I didn't remove the factory screen protector. I may just hang onto them for a year and then sell them as "used, unlocked, like new".

After 60 days, the phone will be unlocked, can I activate the phone to Total Wireless?
From what I've heard that once the IMEI # of the phone is on StraightTalk, you cannot activate the phone on Total because both companies are the same?

I have seen your posts the last couple years and I respect your opinion on smartphones. Is this a good deal for a iphone, I just got a Mac Mini M4 a few days ago, and was thinking of getting an apple smartphone to pair with it. I bought a ipad a few months ago, so I am dipping my feet into Apple Eco-system. Thanks
Yes it's the best deal so far for BF season ( 128gb of storage vs 64gb on others and a physical sim slot) it would be great if it was $100 but with the iphone 12 still being heavily pushed it is what it is lol. At best maybe $150 on BF ( I doubt it ) . Saying this from last year's epic $50 ip se3 straight talk deal. This is this year's for those of us needing 128gb storage . Basically iphone 12 64gb for $100 or iphone 13 128gb for $200 is the deals around

Tried to order one but always showed "We apologize, but your payment has been declined. Please contact your bank or try a different payment method." I have tried different Credit Cards but it never went through. Anybody has the same issues?

If it won't activate on Total just contact support and ask to remove from ST acct/rebrand phone to Total. My ST unlocked phone wouldn't activate as a BYOP on Tracfone until it had been automatically removed from account - took at least 10 weeks from activation.
It can be done.

I had another "throwaway" number that I tried to port to US Mobile for their 30-day free trial, and it didn't work, and because I didn't have any need to keep the number, after a couple of hours going back and forth between two carriers' customer service groups telling me the fault was with the other carrier, I got fed up and cancelled the port. I don't think it was US Mobile's "fault" but I also don't understand why the problem existed in the first place, so I'm a bit hesitant to try porting to US Mobile, but in a couple of weeks when my service ends, I'll probably decide that US Mobile is a good idea haha. I do think that a $10 plan and then $2.50 per month to snooze the plan on US Mobile is a good deal since the carrier has an overall good reputation for customer service.
