One takeaway from it is that you don't want to pair it with say an intel core i9 for example.
It would be nice if they mentioned in the reviews (and went on to test it against) less powerful CPU's like say the AMD Ryzen 5 3400G .. though there are those who would argue with good reason a new PC builder is crazy to even bother with the AM socket 4 and the price difference with the AM socket 5 CPU's (at full retail price that is see below) is small enough such that it's a much better option (apparently the motherboards for them are better too - they have to be to handle the AMD 5 series.. and don't cost that much more either or at least that's what I've been reading in the one article I found online, can't seem to dig it up now for the life of me)
On the other hand sellers being aware of this you'll see AMD 4 series processors and the MB's that match it going on sale for insanely low prices as say a combo deal for example so if you're happy with it's level of performance and don't mind not "future proofing" your PC you can get some good deals there too. It all depends on what you want to use your PC for.. if you're like me and haven't gotten around to playing say the Witcher 3, Deus Ex Mankind Divided or Grand Theft Auto Five for example or a bunch of other older games that came out around that time AMD 4 would I'd argue be just fine for you
It costs more but I've been very happy with my Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE CPU Cooler currently selling for $35 (normally around $40 apparently so not much of a sale)
the problem is this sucker is huge and you need a big enough case for it to fit in... you'd want to measure inside your case with say a plastic or wood (preferably not metal) ruler and make sure based on the dimensions amazon gives you that the peerlesss fits in there.
This is a good deal on a budget cooler, especially compared to last wk when this was much more expensive. Comparable design to other direct-contact 4-pipe coolers, like the Assassin Spirit (not to be confused with the Peerless Assassin and later Phantom Spirit) or SE-214. If you have to penny-pinch and you're running a lower-end, low-TDP CPU you should be OK. I used to run a comparable cooler on a 4790S (a 65W CPU) and an older Hyper 212 on a Ryzen 7 1700X (95W) without issue. Fan noise (using the stock fan that comes with the cooler) was never too bad either. My guess is you probably won't want to use this with anything above 95W even if it only temporarily boosts above this, but otherwise this class of cooler definitely has a place.
I've used this fan for a long time (i6500k CPU) and quite happy with it. Trick to keeping your CPU cool is to fine-tune the voltages, since every silicon chip is unique and the default voltage (1.2V) is on the higher end to make the system runs stably. Fine-tuning allows you to lower the voltage while overclocking and still greatly reduce the heat output.
I've been using this on a Ryzen 5 5600 for nearly a couple years now without any problems. Very pleased with it. Computer is approaching silent in a Lian Li case with 3 140mm fans. CPU is about 30C while surfing. I haven't checked under load lately, but it's always been fine.

[And now $10.49. Amazon is bizarre sometimes.]
