You don't have to switch names anymore.
1. Sign out of Xfinity account before searching.
2. When you enter the address, select you are moving here as a new customer.
3. Once you select the plan, it will give an option to create a new account or login. Login with your existing id.
4. It will create a new account and close the old account on your existing login.
5. You will be charged prorated amount on old account and new account starts right away.
6. Your internet will be on for a while but one day it will stop working.
7. If you owned the modem then you can restart the modem and go through activation process on new login and move old modem over. Else use new rental modem for activation.
8. If you have you mobile lines then you can call them to move the lines to new account.

My wife and I have switched accounts for many years every time a deal expires. I started going in store because you get the equipment right away. You will have to constantly replace modems every time you switch but it saves hundreds.

For those swapping account within the household and have Xfinity mobile, will swapping the account and just moving over xfinity mobile service from one account to the new one qualify for $40 off on 1Gbps + plan?

For Xfinity internet only deals, every time I've signed up for a new contract the price stated at checkout is exactly what I was billed every month for that period. However this deal includes mobile service which I could see adding extra monthly fees they don't tell you about. Can anyone confirm how much more extra in fees they were charged after signing up? Right now I have 300mbps Xfinity internet only and my $39/month promo ends next month, my Mint mobile plan expires in a few days. So I'm seriously considering canceling my current Xfinity internet and porting my Mint number to sign up for this deal. I'm undecided however as if I ever port out my number during the 1 year contract, they'll raise the price of the internet plan.

When do they ship the mobile sim? At the same time as the internet kit, or is it after you've activated everything? Got a coax cable a few days ago but no sim, no additional shipping updates.

I want to do this I really do, but T-Mobile home internet is honestly too awesome. I get like 500 mbps where I live. Honestly the thought of going through a closet and digging out modems and routers is just depressing. Also I ripped out all the unsightly cables outside my house so they would probably have to send a technician out to replace them. Just too much to save some money for one year.

Its right around 7 bucks and change for addnl fee. That does not include mobile data. Add at least $10 more for buying data by the gig or more if you need more mobile data. When i last took advantage of mobile line, i had to put the damn sim card away because even if i turn off mobile data, xfinity will turn it back on somehow without warning and $10 charge show up.

The fact that Xfinity offering the same service at very selective zones for 1/4th of what majority of the users pay is outright illegal.. at this age, internet is a utility like gas and water and these prices should be regulated across the board , at least up until certain speed limits . One paying $80 for 300mbps vs another paying $20 for the same speed is day light robbery ..
Nothing illegal. Internet service is unregulated and not a utility. Y'all have complained about taxes and put Republicans in state, local, and federal control, this what you get. Guaranteed for at least another 4 yrs...

This is for an unlimited line, so why should there be additional data charges? For Michigan, I'm seeing $3.24 estimated monthly charges. Where are you seeing $7+ monthly fees?

I didn't get a sim card either. I think they said they need to verify you activated your Internet before proceeding with the mobile order

So I just placed an order online for a new 300mbps plan using the old account. The order seems to have gone through. how do I confirm if my previous internet account is cancelled and new one is in effect? How long will this take?

Also I have 3 lines on the old account. I need to close 2 lines and move one to the free unlimited. How should I go about this?

Yes, follow the steps listed in earlier posts. You don't need to cancel, follow steps to enroll in this offer and existing account will get cancelled. I did the same.
how long did it take?

So this was my experience. On placing the order and getting confirmation mail for new order, received another mail for cancellation request being received. It didn't list any account number, so assumed was for old account. In my Xfinity account, the old account was still showing up as active and it showed the upcoming bill. Hadn't activated Internet in new account yet, had decided to do when old one stopped working. Chatted with Xfinity support to confirm, they confirmed that old account was marked for cancellation and can ignore the bill. On 5th or 6th day, the Internet activate option on new account just for dropped. Chatted with Xfinity support again, told them Internet activation no longer shows in new plan. They helped to create new order with same deal, and took my approval. During this process, my older account dropped from profile and my Internet stopped working. Had to wait 25-30 mins and Internet activation appeared again on my new account. This time was able to activate and start using Internet on new account.
