You don't have to switch names anymore.
1. Sign out of Xfinity account before searching.
2. When you enter the address, select you are moving here as a new customer.
3. Once you select the plan, it will give an option to create a new account or login. Login with your existing id.
4. It will create a new account and close the old account on your existing login.
5. You will be charged prorated amount on old account and new account starts right away.
6. Your internet will be on for a while but one day it will stop working.
7. If you owned the modem then you can restart the modem and go through activation process on new login and move old modem over. Else use new rental modem for activation.
8. If you have you mobile lines then you can call them to move the lines to new account.

My wife and I have switched accounts for many years every time a deal expires. I started going in store because you get the equipment right away. You will have to constantly replace modems every time you switch but it saves hundreds.

why dont use your own modem? i always call when changing accounts and they are able to switch the modem to new account easily.

Did you receive any email for cancellation request? My advice would be not to wait long for old account to stop working…and if Internet activation option shows on new account, to go ahead with it. Once activated on new account, connect with chat and confirm old account is cancelled.

When do they ship the mobile sim? At the same time as the internet kit, or is it after you've activated everything? Got a coax cable a few days ago but no sim, no additional shipping updates.
Are you sure they will ship SIM? If I remember correctly, during validation step it showed me e-SIM as only option. Not sure though, it could be different for others.

I didn't get a sim card either. I think they said they need to verify you activated your Internet before proceeding with the mobile order
Did is show sim card as an option during mobile validation? I did choose transfer of existing number as my choice. Showed only e-SIM to me. Did you try activating the Mobile on new account yet? Does it allow it?

I guess I'll reach out to them in the morning to find out. Absolutely no instructions in any of the emails. Ridiculous.

I'll try this new account trick as soon as my mobile payments are up in October.

after 1.2 TB, do you still get internet but just at a lower rate, or do they cut it off, or do they charge you extra?
They charge extra. I think it is something like $10 per 50gb (up to $100 a month).

I had ordered this in the summer and they refused to honor the price and free line. They auto canceled the new order but still sent me the useless activation kit. Finally they agreed to match the price but not honor the phone plan which was my old deal so I did not agree

The autopay discount remains.
I pay in advance with Credit cards, sometime with Amex Credit Cards where I found the Amex offer, "Save on your Cable & Internet Bill: Spend $50 or more, get $10 back".
So you have the bank account as the autopay method and then go in the manually pay with a credit card right?

Hmm, my symmetrical 1Gb Google Fiber, after 9 years of service, is still $70/month. No equipment costs, no bullshit fees, no data caps, just a fair, flat price and basically 100% uptime.

I just got their 500mbps plan and I barely get 300mbps. Goes down to 150-200 mbps at times but the router still says that I'm getting 119% of my speed. Not sure how it's calculating that. All in all pretty crappy speeds. Thinking of switching to their local competitor

Are you calculating the speed with a direct wired connection to the modem or over wifi?
