Products with the name pyrex (all lowercase) are made by a company called World Kitchen and are made out of clear tempered high-thermal-expansion soda-lime glass, which has a lower thermal shock resistance, making them susceptible to explosions in the microwave or oven. You can identify them by the lower case logo and the bluish tint in the glass.

Products with the name PYREX (all uppercase) are made of clear, low-thermal-expansion borosilicate glass and are not susceptible to explosions in the microwave or oven. They can be identified by the logo which is in all upper case letters and the glass will be clear, not blue.

TLDR: Look at the Logo, PYREX (All uppercase) is good, pyrex (all lowercase) potentially explodes in the microwave.

Remember that "borosilicate glass" is the important part, not the Pyrex brand. Plenty of other companies make good borosilicate dishes

In recent years, the prices on Costco products aren't any better in most cases than other places (Walmart, BJ's which either have no/low membership fees) so don't know about the value proposition going forward. Also the deals on things you want are rarer and scarce so the membership fee feels more like a burden where you have to justify the fee by buying crap you don't want rather than stuff we need. This is purely IMHO. Don't think I'll renew next year if things stay the same.

Correct. Unit pricing is average and not good enough for the quantities they sell. Finally someone gets it. I get their gas but otherwise walk in and out without a cart. Even their toilet paper's unit cost for its quality is not great anymore. Their meat and seafood pricing is lackluster. I will stock up on lobster ravioli and that's it.

Some Costco faves (when on sale):

- Refrigerated pesto
- RANA ravioli and frozen cheese/spinach ravioli
- Amazing DOC balsamic vinegar - could be the best value in the store. This quality would literally cost 5-10x elsewhere. I have no idea how they do it.
