I love my SP7+, but battery life sucks! ARM is a good idea, but a lot of software still cannot be used.

Nah, this is not one of those type items. It's still an arm processor which still has compatibility issues and will continue to drop in price as more lunar lake laptops come out. Most snapdragon x laptops will be 600 or less by January is my prediction.
Agreed. Never seen a new chipset drop so far so soon after launch. Especially not in a Surface Pro. Just look up how much more expensive the older x86 SP10s are... ARM is superior hardware, BUT the software compatibility issues kills it. Lunar Lake is not far behind, and has no compatibility issues. The Lunar Lake Surface Pros will be out soon.

Good deal. Any deal on surface pro X ? I have keyboard and pen that only work with 8 9 X.
Keyboard and pens compatible with 8, 9 and X should work with 11 as well.

I was able to pricematch via Best Buy chat. Placed an order for instore pickup. Should qualify for Best Buy's extended holiday returns if there is a better deal, or if I want to go with another option.

The question is this one or the m2 MacBook Air for $750 at Costco
If you need a computer, MacBook Air

If you want a tablet too then this decided it. But the comparison is off because you have to get a Keyboard for the Surface Pro and it's either $50-80 offbrand -- not as good or use the older Microsoft kb for $100 use or the newest one for $350 brand new which change the cost completely. $800 + ($50 or $350 for a nice keyboard).

I happened to have an offbroad kb. I would never buy the newest $350 kb. SP11 is not my main device.

For this price, why?! Get an M* Mac or wait for a Lunar Lake to hit this price point.

Well I got some good news for myself.

I was able to run local 7B parameter LLM at 10 tokens per second and this machine was still use-able! It never pegged the CPU (cannot run off NPU and no video card support) but 10 tokens is respectable.

My M4Pro 20GPU did 40-50 tokens/s.

The Intel 1260p would have crawled for 3 tokens per second and killed the entire CPU. SnapDragon up to 60% CPU and I can still play videos at the same time without any issues.

Once apps are using the NPU I expect pretty damn good performance. I'm happy with my purchase since I can use this for basic local LLM now and hope more support on the NPU later on. The NPU TOPS rating is similar to my 20GPus on the m4 pro chip

It's interesting how many MC deals are posted here when there are so few MC stores across the US. Less than one per state. And almost all posted deals aren't shippable so a tiny fraction of SD'ers are even close enough to one to buy.

I actually prefer BB. There are at least a dozen within driving distance to me, their deals are just as good or better if you're open to considering their open-box deals. If you buy a lot, their BB Total membership gives 60 day returns and I generate tons of rewards points which is better value than any MC deal and free AppleCare+ 2YR for Apple purchases. HUGE savings, again, if you can't get enough tech!
