For $400 more, the 14" with the M4 Pro chip is $1799.
Some reviews say the regular is a bargain for the performance but if you need the extra performance, the M4 Pro is worth the upgrade.

Stick with it, I don't think this new model offers anything significantly improved compared to m3 pro

Sweet! I chatted with Best Buy and they are refunding me an additional $42 from the $1439 pricematch I did last week to micro center. Those of you who did the price match last week get your extra $ back!

It is endless. For most of them regular M4 way good enough.

Apple needs something to sell the new one. I am not sure why it's still a thing for a laptop to support multiple laptop windows I have been doing this for ages. I went with M3 Air.

I know. I'm still rocking a Mac Pro 5.1 desktop, a MacBook Air 15" M2/8GB/256.
I got the new M4 mini but damn does it ever boot up fast. But you're right for 90% of people the M4 is more than enough especially it's all 16GB RAM.

Very good deal, esp because it is in stock at Costco stores. This M4 performs comparable to M3 Pro. So, performance wise, it should be fine for most folks. Enough upgrades from M3 Air to justify the extra dough. Will pull trigger on this in case some solid deal comes through on AMD's latest AI ones, like ProArt.

Both should suffice is what I understand from my research. M4 Pro is substantially faster than M3/M3 Pro and is the recommended requirement for ML work on most channels. I have requirements for basic modeling work and might choose M3 Pro for this reason.

Is this a good gaming laptop? Thinking warcraft type gaming. Also, what would be a comparable gaming laptop for the same price? I do prefer to stock with apple

My mac pro 2021 M1Pro has vertical purple lines because of dustgate(dust on flex cable)....apple is asking $750 to replace the screen..sucks

You don't buy a Mac for gaming. The Max has decent performance comparatively but with the normal M4 and middle ground you still have to make a lot of compromises for most games released in the last 6 years iirc.

Yeah the Pro processor. I figured I might as well make the jump as I would've wanted the ram upgrade anyways. The Pro processor seems to have much better GPU and it also supports newer thunderbolt. Its obviously quite a bit faster, but I don't really need that to be honest.

Just came here to say if you're buying from Costco get it straight from the warehouse. I ordered online delivery and UPS just left the laptop at my front door. 🙄Fortunately I was home so I picked it up right away.

For big purchases retailers should use the sign package option.
