If you're on the fence about an ultrawide or if you're trying to pick up something for office work, just get this one and ignore the haters if they pop up in this thread.

Is it going to compete with a Samsung OLED? No. Is it going to compete with the LG top end 34" ultrawide? No.

Is it the best ultrawide you're gonna get at $155 and be WAY BETTER than your 1080p 60hz 27" monitor you've had for 5 years? You betcha.

I bought 8 of these for my employees in IT a year ago, and they've been fantastic. Had one of them show up busted, but it was an easy return. They are a little dim out of the box, but it's because they're in some sort of low power mode.

Could not recommend more at this price point.

I just couldn't get used to the oddness of a 32 inch ultrawide curved monitor, and went back to 2 seperate 27 inch 16:9 monitors.

downsides I encountered:
-older games won't work without patches or workarounds, or won't work, at ultrawide resolutions. If you play alot of vintage games it's probably not worth the headaches.
-some hud elements are flung into distant corners, such as minimaps in RTS/MOBA type games, which is problematic
-Same with UI elements of some programs, like Pearson Vue testing worked horribly on an ultrawide

I prefer 32 vs 34, just because I like to watch movies full screen and you'll get black bars on the left and right side of a 34" monitor. It's great for productivity and work though.
This is the most confusing logic thdt I always hear about stuff like this. You will not get less movie display because of the black bars. The movie display size will be EXACTLY the same.

Ah. Damn. Looked right into my soul and pierced it with a rusty fork. Guess I gotta bite.

I bought this monitor about 3 months ago when it was at 187.
I am very happy with it. I use it for work and gaming.
Work wise I much prefer it over a two monitor set up. I am able to have 3 windows open and work between them seamlessly and comfortably. I do zoom calls often and they appreciate the fact that I'm always facing forward rather than looking off to the side at the second monitor.

Gaming wise also excellent. I don't need anything higher than 165. It's not an oled but images look great imo. Only thing I didn't account for was that this is essentially more like a 2K monitor vs a 1440p. So I did get a hit in frame rate a bit when at ultra wide vs when I used a regular 27 inch 1440 p. Love the curve too

2k = 1440p buddy. You somehow think 2k means something else.

These are ultra wide 3k displays
3440x1440
Or UWQHD for short. Both are 1440p the P refers to to the amount of pixels vertical.

The 2k is referring to then to the vertical length horizontally. 2560x1440p aka QHD

In for 1. Getting my son a new gaming PC for Christmas (laptop died). Was going to give him my 34" Dell, but at $160, why not.

It's fine if it's for Christmas, or if you're not in a hurry. I ordered a monitor from them last week and it still hasn't shipped.

Thanks, was going to buy this but you're right on zoom it's gonna look bad
If you don't need to share your whole screen, shape your share window appropriately (ie, less than full width) and share just the window instead of your whole screen.

My dumb question: I have this Philips monitor--would the Acer be an upgrade? I mainly use it for work and some light gaming.

One of the reviewers on AMZ says it caught fire. and it only has a 30 day return and the 0 ZERO ShitState Warranty. "The monitor seemed pretty cool when I turned it on but shortly after it literally caught on fire in my apartment leaving black stains on my wall from the fire and Acer is refusing to do anything about it and told me the monitor catching on fire was not covered under warranty and they won't send me a replacement"
the monitor catching on fire was not covered under warranty. thats hilarious

If you do a lot of screen sharing at work, then this is not for you. People will have a hard time looking at your screen. Because it will squeeze the ultra wide aspect ratio on their non ultra wide screen. So that is something to consider.
what would be an ideal setup if you do a lot of screen sharing?

right now i have 2 dell 22 inches and 1 19 inch vertical monitor that has really bad brightness. right now, i leave one 22inch monitor "blank on the desktop" so i can drag things over when screen sharing. Ideally, it would be great to have the monitor that is had on be nicer than my Dell 22PH.

Just bought one of these from Costco for about $229. Prefer Costco for the return policy, but at this price I'm tempted to return it and buy here.

Monitor is great. Sure it's not 4K or OLED, but this is an incredible bang for your buck. Perfect for a casual gamer.

Only thing to keep in mind is you should put it on a monitor arm and clamp it to the desk. Stand is enormous.
