The SSD in this is also faster than the M2. Might not notice it in day to day tasks, but still. For $100 more than the earlier M2 deal, I think the upgrades here and an extra year of software support is worth it (definitely more so than paying $200 for an extra 256gb of onboard storage).

Anyone able to get Costco to price match?

Buying expensive items from Amazon is generally a hassle if there's issues.

My understanding is that there are no restocking fees for BB if you return within 15 days. I bought an open box 13" 16/512 for 1000, but I am returning today. It was in perfect condition with 2 charge cycles, but there was some small defects on the screen that I couldn't get past.

Tough decision now. The 16/256 is the best value (but after Sequoia OS, you likely get like 200GB and I need to run Parallels for Windows VM), plus Garage Band files do take up some space. The extra 200 for storage is pretty silly, but I need the breathing room. I am going to lock in the deal now with 6% back on Amazon CC and leave it unopened, to wait and see if it drops further, or if the M4 Pro drops from current 1400 deal.

What was your experience? I've bought and returned many things, but never a laptop. I was planning to secure the deal but leave it unopened just in case further price drops.

Tried returning an unopened MacBook Pro last year when there was a better deal around this time of year and they wouldn't price match and it took almost 60 days of complaining at them to get a refund.

If you look at other posts around here people have similar problems even with something like expensive headphones. Sometimes even getting a box full of batteries instead of whatever the product was supposed to be and then Amazon not believing you.

Costco is just so easy to work with and often price matches.

Just returned my m2 base which I bought last week from BestBuy for $750 and then price matched this M3 with Amazon for $850. Paid $108 incl. taxes. 😂

The 16/512 M3 Air is $1049 on Amazon (6% cash back if using Prime Visa with a delayed shipping day), the 16/512 M4 is $1400. So $350 more. I was also a bit torn, but decided I don't need the extra power and the added weight/bulk of M4. The main selling point to me was the nicer screen and slightly better battery. I decided to stick with the Air for portability.

Just price matched at Best Buy since I had a $500 gift card for trading in an old MacBook a few weeks ago and the $25 off $250 offer from Amex.

Worth it, the M2 is already a generation behind (Geekbench shows single-core at around 2,650). The M3 has single-core of 3,050 which is inline with Apple's claim of 15% increase in single-core and 18% multi-core. Might as well future proof it a little more with the newer chip, after all, it is only $100 on what is normally a $1,099 machine. Crazy that only six months ago when it launched, it would've cost $1,299 without the free RAM upgrade!
