For people subscribing for the first time, I'd recommend signing up as soon as the discount is live so that next year there's not much overlay in your subscription expiring and the discount going live again, and if you don't auto renew this year's sub you'd most likely be able to grab the discount next year too.
I haven't renewed in like 6 months so been waiting a long time for this

also OP should have provided this link to the announcement instead

https://blog.playstation.com/2024...eals-2024/
So no discount on renewals/extensions for existing subscribers, just "upgrades". Eff that.

So if they don't offer you a discount, will you not renew next time?
Can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic….but I probably will renew just because I find the service to be decent (seems to be an unpopular opinion around here) and I do play multiplayer a decent amount with my friends and find the $7/month worth it to play with them and the decent selection of included monthly games.

I just like to complain about loyalty not being important to Sony (and honestly many other companies) - it's all about squeezing as much money out of the user base as possible.

I've been doing monthly for 2 months and set to expire my essential on Nov 17 and I'm waiting for this deal since then. So will be able to get this deal on 11/22? Or I won't get it, as Im not an active plus member?

The general consensus is that the service has become overpriced and the return on investment is not there. Hopefully more people not re-newing senda signal and hit Sony where it hurts the most, Their wallet and bring prices down. Having competition also helps.

What kinds of games are on Classics vs. Ubisoft, to understand if the premium is worth it?

Annoying, I've had PS Plus since it launched on PS3, so my library of games is over 400 now, and thats only getting ones I have at least some interest in, not ever single game every month. They kind of have me locked in to keep all those. I guess thats why no deals for returning subscribers??? Ugh...
I used to pay ~$25 or so a year for this finding discount cards.
Same. I've had it up until last year since PS3 days, but after the last price hike and not being able to pickup the $24-30 PS+ cards I dropped. I thought it would be devastating to my kids, but honestly they shifted from Minecraft to Lego Fortnite and other F2P games for multiplayer and it hasn't been an issue. I just couldn't justify it at full price even for essential. Yeah I know buy PSN gift cards on sale and bank them up, but still the hassles weren't outweighing the benefits.

I recommend anyone on the fence, just sit down and really look at your use case, you might just find out that you won't find enough value to justify it.

Dropping really purged my backlog too! 😂

So you can't stack sub discounts no matter what? Was hoping to sub for several years then pay the upgrade fee.

Ugh Sony did this last time, too. While it's great new customers get subscription discounts, it would be great if the loyal (current) subscribers would get either a better percentage or a percentage off their current subscription tier instead of requiring an upgrade.

I don't want to upgrade my tier, I'm fine with essentials. Please don't require current subscribers to upgrade their tier to get any sort of deal. I hate this tactic.
You also lose access to the free monthly games from essential subscription if they are on the plus subscription. This means going to plus back to essential can actually reduce your games library.

Is it not required for some multiplayer games? Mine is up this month and I want to know how pissed my kids will be Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
If it is free to play games it is not required to subscribe to play online like overwatch 2, fornite or war zone etc.

This is ridiculous! I'm hoping you can buy PSplus from a third party. I did that years ago to get deals on it. So hoping third party will come in clutch this Black Friday!
Didn't Sony get rid of 3rd party sales for PS+? Also, with this 30% off promo, it's almost back to the regular MSRP it was a year ago...

I hate how customer retention is only a thing once it's too late -- why can't loyal customers be rewarded? Just give me a little reward for being an ultimate-tier customer for so many years 🙄

Last year when they hiked the price I put my foot down and said enough is enough and I dropped down to the most basic tier. I guess they got the hint because a month or so later Playstation emailed me an offer to upgrade to the top tier for only $30. I bit, but there's no shot I'm renewing this time around for full price.
