BestBuy has a tendency to put out one of these drives on deal (ie: $250 for this one), so people rush out and buy it.. only to drop the price on another drive later on (like 18TB for $179, or 22TB for $229). My guess is that they try to get a higher sale out of these initial offers and then scoop up some additional sales of better-discounted versions in the coming weeks.

This is more of just a heads-up that if you buy this you might want to hang onto the packaging/box in case a better deal comes up and you end up doing an exchange.
Total came out to $232.50 (excluding tax)

Don't forget Amex has $25 off $250.

Also GCGranny or CardBear can give you 7% off Best Buy gift cards.
Careful with enterprise drives if your NAS/DAS isn't tucked away somewhere that you can't hear or see it. Enterprise drives tend to be much louder than commercial/consumer drives.

i'm not going to open it back up just to take a picture, but it was definitely a barracuda, non-pro model, 20tb drive. model number St2000dm001
i dunno what is crazier... that there might be a barracuda hdd in there... or that you didn't take a picture on your own.... also that's a 2TB from the model number you gave. i wonder if maybe you're the one who is swapping it.... XD that's fraud sir !

ah you're right, i may have grabbed the wrong spec sheet from google tbh. It did say barracuda though, and I know most of the barracuda non-pro line is SMR which is all i cared about since i'd like to avoid SMR drives for my use

making me doubt myself on why that would be the model number in my google search though, it makes no sense. what's the model number for the 20tb model barracuda?

only if you have ancient PSU that doesn't support the power disable feature of the version 3.3 of the SATA spec which came out Feb 2016. https://sata-io.org/sites/default..._FINAL.pdf

Looks like it's on sale for $279 right now... which is not $250 - but it's not bad for those like me who are trying to get ahead of any tariff increases.

Thank you, frankiea. I just checked WD Elements also has been sold $279, same price. I have no idea how this Easystore and Elements are different though.

Also I saw Seagate Expansion 22tb is being sold $249, but I have no confidence to get this due to the users reviews…

Easystore is just a BB-only model to basically avoid price matching. The only difference used to be the Elements had a physical switch to turn on/off, but not sure that is even true anymore.
