Deal HistoryÂ
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
It's not a great deal but for $30 more than the most recent Black Friday price (for a Western digital) is worth a thumbs up so those who need storage now can snag it. (Deal ends tomorrow or when stock runs out).
Don't these 20tbs have issues with noise and reliability?
i have several in synology nas that have been working for about 2 years. as for the noise, they are not the quietest, but you get used to the noise and know they are working

The 4 I have from nov (all still external) that are seeing consistent use have had absolutely 0 issues with noise. Additionally I've not had any reliability issues from WD externals in almost two decades and that's all I buy since an issue with a handful of Seagate drives in ~2006 - but I also tend to replace drives with larger drives when the size isn't worth keeping - at this point my smallest capacity externals are 14TB as I've replaced all the 8 and 10s. (I have in use a total of 14 external drives on my 2 desktop systems as I write this, trying to wait until WD 24TB+ are a decent price to start replacing the 8 14TBs I have from awhile back.)
Ultimately all mechanical drives are unreliable. In general all 20TB + drives tend to show low AFRs (<1%) fail rates. Check Backblaze drive stats for more info.
"Backblaze's 2024 HDD stats show the Seagate 24TB Barracuda drive model (ST24000NM002H) performed very well, with zero failures among the 1,200 drives that filled a single Backblaze Vault."

You haven't even seen reactionary prices, let alone what happens when shortages start.
Everything begins in a country impacted by these tariffs.
You aren't escaping this by singling out China, but clearly our entire economy revolves around even the smallest screw made there.
Moreover, even if you exclude all of these origin countries, where do you expect to get the labor to replace them?
