BestBuy has a tendency to put out one of these drives on deal (ie: $250 for this one), so people rush out and buy it.. only to drop the price on another drive later on (like 18TB for $179, or 22TB for $229). My guess is that they try to get a higher sale out of these initial offers and then scoop up some additional sales of better-discounted versions in the coming weeks.

This is more of just a heads-up that if you buy this you might want to hang onto the packaging/box in case a better deal comes up and you end up doing an exchange.
Total came out to $232.50 (excluding tax)

Don't forget Amex has $25 off $250.

Also GCGranny or CardBear can give you 7% off Best Buy gift cards.
Careful with enterprise drives if your NAS/DAS isn't tucked away somewhere that you can't hear or see it. Enterprise drives tend to be much louder than commercial/consumer drives.

This is about a hard drive deal right? Or politics?

I hope these are CMR drives and not SMR drives. Any way to check?
According to this thread you want to look for r/N: US7SAS200 on the internal label of the drive:

Many of us expect this 20TB drive to be $200 based on historical deal patterns. But since their offer is way off let's not mislead the rest of the members who might jump in only because these thumb-ups lead them to think it's a great deal. A thread with comments should be enough. These thumb-ups and frontpage markings are not helping shoppers. I'm not sure if SD members could help with the frontpage status but there's no reason to thumb-up an offer unless the pricing deserves it.

The 18TB Easystore for $200 was the outlier, for years we had nothing but 14TB for $200 as the go-to deal. And that might only be because they had an excess of inventory from COVID ending and Chia crypto tanking. Both Amazon and WD have the $270 20TB Elements as their BF deal, I doubt we get anything better outside of bare drives. Holiday returns are until January so they won't undercut themselves on current sales.

Being that this is their Black Friday price and only $30 less than the previous low, I think we can temper our expectations.

This is my approach. I'd love to have that deal from last year, but if it isn't meant to be it is what it is.

+1 on this. $200 for 14TB drive translates to $285 for 20TB drive (not counting inflation!). So this appears to be a decent deal.

If there is a better deal during BF, purchase it during BF and return this one. Since the BF deal may have limited qualities, it may be difficult to get in on it.

That's not how it works with technology, inflation was technically "worse" last year than this one and we got 18tb for $200 during BF, that's $11.1 per TB. This year we got 20TB for $250 which is $12.5 per TB

Prices are like that across the board on hard drives right now. Just the way it is.
What's the excuse this time? If it's not a giant factory flooding, it's those idiots mining chia, inflation, supply chain issues due to covid

I think the 18TB price last year was a welcome anomaly. Hope there is a similar one this year for BF. We are technically still in the pre-BF sales, and the prices will hopefully go down some more for the high capacity easystore HDDs. :fingers_crossed:
