Just a heads up. Best Buy will install this (front + back cameras) for $99. The dash cam can be purchased anywhere, it doesn't have to be from Best Buy.

Great camera. Put one in my wife's car.

Got a new model for my car, DroneXC. Dash cam that live streams the video to my cell phone via 5G. So if the alarm goes off, it alerts me and I can pull up live video. The video is also automatically stored in the cloud. So if the entire car is stolen or they steal the dash cam, you'll still have the footage. Tracks the car via GPS too.

Yes, it's more expensive, but dope af.

Ordered the A119. Lowest price ever. Thanks iconian! Just in time as a friend just bought a new car. I've been using 1080P dash cams from Aukey and Yi in the $40-$50 range purchased in 2019 and they've worked flawlessly. Police officer ruled in my favor and wrote up the report favorably for a rear-end collision. I didn't even have a rear dash cam module, but he noticed the impact in the front-facing model I had. In another car, the police officer saw footage of two cars displaying road rage. One of the cars side-swiped my car and the police immediately ruled in my favor and wrote up reckless driving tickets for the two idiots. Every once in a while, check the camera to see that it's working, and reformat the MicroSD card once a month, and you'll be good to go. The dash cam market has caught on its popularity and they have jacked up their prices. A $40-$50 model will work just as well as a $200 model. You're paying for bells and whistles for the $200+ models in my humble opinion. The only reason why I spent more for the A119 is my friend wanted the name brand at the lowest price.

Nice find and thanks for sharing! It's $12 off each unit, in case you're purchasing multiples. Knocked off $24 for my 2x order.

I bought A119 Mini 2 but I don't see GPS Location showing on a map as noted in product descriptions and Amazon website - "GPS Recording& Tracking A119 Mini 2 provides detailed location, speed, and time data of the vehicle when playing back the video on VIOFO App or computer."
GPS is ON but when playing videos bottom half of the screen is black. Some Applle iOS application reviews are regarding the exact same issue and in general the Viofo dash cam application is rated only 2 stars. Amazon reviews are suspiciously positive. Kenwood 601 had the same issue and I returned it. I
Am puzzled how my 8 years old ROAV is better than these new models.

How do these cameras work without parking mode when the vehicle has an impact? Does the impact trigger the camera to turn on and record for a few minutes? I have a cheap $35 dash cam that currently does that and it's main power source is the cigarette outlet. It does have a battery instead of a capacitor so perhaps that's why it can turn on when the vehicle is off?

If the VIOFO A229 Pro can do this feature as well then I'd probably opt for the donger adapter instead of the HW4 hardware kit from VIOFO.
I'm not knowledgeable on it since I don't use that feature, but here's from the horse's mouth:

https://www.viofo.com/blogs/viofo...8UQAvD_BwE

No, the Dongar adapter won't work with parking mode since the dashcam is off when the car is off.

I've had a Viofo A119V3 installed for over 4.5 years and it's still working. Florida heat plus I use a windshield sun shade which almost reflects the sun into the camera. I've left that thing running 24 hours a day for weeks because I forget to turn it off or I'm traveling. It's been in temps as low as the 20s that I know of. Also you can remove these from the mounts if you want or you can get a suction cup mount setup.I still don't see the external rear cam listed on Amazon. RWC200, it's on their website and on aliexpress. Also just noticed the 329 and the capability to hook up an external SSD (assuming HDD too even though it specifies SSD). Plus 512GB microSD card support. Wish they'd up the older cam's supported size too. 1TB microSD is under $100.
I doubt a HDD will survive long in car environment with all the heat, vibration, bumps, etc....that's probably why they specify a SSD

Anyone installed this on ceramic tinted windshields? I really dont want to put this on the film. Does the clear film work?
I'm not certain, but I do recall a review saying that tinted glass causes the 'rainbow' effect, especially if you use the polarized lens cap.

How does 2 of A119 Mini 2 for front and rear compare against single A229 plus for front and rear ignoring the price difference?

I think I'm going to go with this instead:
https://www.amazon.com/ROVE-R2-4K...0D6J5B98H/

It comes with the same sensor (Starvis 2) in this thread but it comes with a mount, a free 128GB microSD card, it has a rear camera (its only 1080p).

The viofo can fail during a crash as seen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovIbvUHhJf8
It doesn't have the same sensor as the 4k version. It has an older starvis 2 (imx675i think). It isn't a true 4k video as they use pixel binning to turn a 2k video into a 4k one. The a 229 pro gas a true 4k sensor the imx678.

Yeah it's known problem with the brand. They just haven't found a way to fix it. It doesn't happen to other well know brands

Anyone who reading this should do their own research
. Don't not get mad when the dashcam do not record the actual accident. Just one Google search will show you issues. Don't come crying when it happened to you

I was thinking about doing the same but the parking mode will not work unless you are connected directly to the battery, right?
true. Has to be wired to constant-on source.

Will any 5v usb-c hardwire kit work? The Viofo one doesn't seem to come with taps, whereas other/cheaper ones do.

Source other than this video? Looks like VIOFO responded to the YouTuber stating their tests showed no issues on recent production builds and they've taken measures to prevent this defect since the initial release, so I'm curious where your statement stems from. Genuinely curious.

Indeed, still a possibility, especially for use just when parked. I'd probably still use a 2TB SSD regardless. I don't see the 329 having that external rear cam option though so it doesn't matter at this point for me. Next dashcam will have an external rear cam either attached to the main cam or I'll run it standalone.
