Want to watch Hulu, Netflix, etc @ condo in FL. No Go on Roku (I'm not "home").
Workaround= laptop+HDMI cable.
Want Chromecast-like device to make navigation/cable management easier.
Chromecast seemed like easiest, cheapest solution. I will spend $40 but not $100. Would prefer cheap at the expense of signal quality.

Open to a Linux based solution if one is out there
I can't even figure out the Chromecast line-up. I do know they are discontinuing the non "TV" line. Don't want a doorstop either, so any help welcome and needed. I can't be the only one.
(Has me considering the VPN Black Friday specials but apparently even some of their servers are blocked from local anyway, but want hardware solution anyway to stream from laptop/Chromebook to a HDMI port. Not sure if TV has USB, doubtful--it has built-in DVD!)
