A Tablo 4th generation device cannot stream outside of your home because it does not support the "Tablo Connect" feature, which is necessary for out-of-home streaming; this is due to the different technology used in the newer Tablo compared to older models that had this functionality.
Because of this^^^ I can no longer support this product. Hopefully they fix this issue and in a hurry.

But for the average user that this was designed for, it is extremely inconvenient/not practical compared to previous versions that required no additional set up.
This was designed to be plug&play and if they don't fix it with V5, they will lose the majority of their consumer base.
If you can stream it in your browser, that would be nice -)
A few reviews said to use a ethernet connection.
Anyone tried this?
I hope more people share their hacks or tips to make this work :-)
Thanks !

Yes, you need an antenna with decent over-the-air reception.
There is no desktop PC/Mac support; this also means no web browser support.
You can only view recordings from within your internal network.
Television guide listings, even though they are free, you are limited to Tablo's third-party provider's information. Case in point, I have MeTV Toons in my area, but there aren't any channel listings for it because GraceNotes/Zap2It hasn't updated it for my area. Meaning: I cannot record any programing from this channel. There is no manual record option.
Tablo must have a stable Internet connection to access its servers or it will not be able to record even if it's scheduled to do so. This was an issue that recently happened during a major sporting event. Tablo said that they are looking into changing that, but no ETA has been provided.
You can connect an external USB hard drive, but that cancels out the internal flash drive. Also, you cannot extract the recordings from this device.
The Good Stuff:
Its Roku, Amazon TV, Apple TV, and mobile applications have been updated often. Apple TV support has been the latest feature, as it was originally not available out of the box.
TV listings are free. There are no paid subscriptions.
If your TV reception is great, typically your recordings will be as well.
If you like FAST TV, it comes with many of those channels, such as those from AMC, CourtTV, IFC, and QVC and you can record them and fast forward through the commercials.
You can make friends with a lot of disgruntled users in various support forums online.

Also, this tuner is able to get all the channels much easier than the tv built in tuner.

To the person who asked about screen record with google chrome - I can't see any reason why sharing your screen wouldn't work. Also, if you need to access the Tablo via your PC I have heard you can use BlueStacks android emulator if absolutely needed.
