For new customers, you will need to be with FI for 4 months. The phone comes unlocked and ready to be used with any carrier from day 1 but you will need to make sure that you don't put the google FI SIM in any other phone. Similarly, $350 off on Pixel 9 pro, pro XL as well.

Normally, the cheapest plan is $20 + fees + taxes per month but FI is also giving $449 as bill credit for 24 months which is $18 per month. So for 4 months of service you are looking at ~ 8*4=32 making the total cost out the door to be $482

They add 911 fees etc and then taxes based on state but for many it should be close to $5

With trade in this might be a nice deal for those who missed on Google One and that Gold promo.

Why do I get the feeling that Google thinks their Pixel 9, formerly the low-end "a" line (8a, 7a, 6A, etc.) is a highly desired by consumers. First they price their phones identical to the iPhone 16 series, same identical name format, and now "Oh you must stay with us for this long to get it for that price". Wake up Google! You have a decent phone, yes, but to think your phone is highly desired by consumers. …somebody's head has been stuck in the sand….for every 1,000 iPhones sold, you sell 4 Pixels Mr. Google. Get it together.

Trash take. I just ditched my S24 Ultra for the Pixel 9 because it felt better in the hand and has a better camera. The A-series still exists, and the Pixel 9 has been a premium experience for me. I also have an iPhone for work, and it's not better in my opinion.

Below are terms of promotion: $350 off now + $449 back over 24 monthly credits when you join Fi.

How to get this offer
When you buy or finance the Google Pixel 9

Activate the phone on Fi within 30 days
The person who activates must be a new Google Fi customer, and be part of your group plan
Keep the Fi account active for 24 months
Offer ends December 5, 2024 or while supplies last
Offer can only be used once per group member

Get reimbursed
Receive a $350 instant rebate at time of purchase
Receive an additional $449 in bill credits spread over 24 months ($18.71 per month)
The credit is tied to the person who activated the device
Taxes and fees may apply

But here's what happens if you cancel or pause service
Canceling service, pausing service or changing devices within 120 days will invalidate the original $350 discount, which will be charged to your Google Pay account
Canceling service within 24 months will stop the promotion, and you will no longer receive bill credits each month
If you move to a different Fi plan, the bill credits will be applied to your new Fi plan
Any unused credit will not roll over to the next month

Where does it say - 'port a number' is required?

I think I saw it somewhere but reading it again, you are right, you don't need to port a number.

So if ú stay for 24 months and end up paying $20 per month then the phone is technically free. Currently I pay $15 for the plan on an unlocked pixel 5. Wondering if I should jump on this.

Just signed up - coming from verizon. my data usage was always a fraction of GB each month using wifi mostly - So my monthly bill should be around $24-26. At the end of 24 months I would have paid 150 for the pixel pro

So the total at best would be 450+20 =470$

Do not use Google Fi if you expect any type of competent support. None of them seem US based and even their senior support will use name like "Bryan" who's equally incompetent. For a communication company, they simply do not communicate internally. Every time you chat with someone, it generates a new support ID and you'll have to explain your issue all over again. I've been in support and dealt with support, they are simply in another level.
