Not sure what you mean about switching devices, where? I transferred the eSIM from the new phone to an old 12 mini, IIRC (not an Apple guy myself) originating the process on the old phone, something like add a new eSIM, transfer from a nearby iPhone or something like that. The phones weren't even on the same Apple accounts. Of course had to confirm on the new phone.
Hey, how long did it take for you to get unlock confirmation email?

Just finished the entire process with ATT. (no TI)

Friday :
Got the iPhone 15 PM in store, got the $500 GC before I left the counter. Transferred the eSIM to unlocked iPhone. Placed a few calls. Can see ATT sees the old phone.
Skip to Sunday:
requested unlock to ATT, got approval in minutes. Then transferred MVNO line to phone to complete process. Then ported out ATT line to close the account there. Zero balance.
Thanks for a great deal! Probably could do all of it the same day, but saw no issue with waiting until day 3 to finish everything.
Hey did you provided different email address than of account?

That makes sense! I finally got my phone unlocked but today is Sunday. I got it in store on Friday around 2pm so I guess I still have Monday 2pm to cancel it. But did you have to pay activation fee if you port it out to another carrier?
So did the unlock work only after 48 hours you paid the remaining balance of payment?

I have to ask. Don't you need to pay for the phone you received at some point in that process? Or is that a loophole here? The thought of dealing with Walmart for a cell phone for a $300 or $500 gift card doesn't entice me very much, but if there is GC plus a free phone--well then we are talking! Thanks!
@shoeymis I wish it was a free phone. lol. The total cost is $1099 + tax. (Tax being paid to Walmart, 1099 to AT&T)
@JoeySD Correct, the phone has to be activated before the guy handed it over, he made a call with it to make sure activation went through.
@BestDeals The final price for me was around $1180 minus the $500 Walmart GC (which I already spent, I don't let Walmart GCs sit too long as I had GCs stolen out of the app before and Walmart just says bummer.)
@losthere JoeySD is right, you can port out to a free service over the weekend. Did the port out in about 10 minutes. Can request a transfer pin online:
To get your AT&T Number Transfer PIN, you can:
  1. Go to your myAT&T profile
  2. Select People & permissions
  3. Select Wireless
  4. Scroll to Transfer phone number and select Request a new PIN
@orangePlice9025 I am assuming you mean for the unlock request? yes I did.

I tried after ~20 hours. It looks like they update the system during night and hence ask to wait for 24 hours?

Still deciding what to do...fingers crossed for some deals starting tomorrow until before Christmas. Reason being, I don't value much the WM gift card. Good deal for WM shoppers.

Unlocking Process: (to be performed AFTER you 1. transfer the eSIM out and make a couple calls to get the ATT system to recognize the phone number is associated with a different phone 2. Paid off the phone.).
  1. Go to https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/unlockstep1 and say NO to if you have an ATT number, which then allows you to put in the IMEI. and check the box for eligibility, click next.
  2. Enter information of someone who is not the holder of the account including their email address. (family member so you can get to the email quickly)
  3. ATT will email the address you entered above a confirmation email to verify if you are indeed asking for an unlock. Click on the link in the email.
  4. 5 minutes later, email came with Approved message (at least for me), with instructions on how to proceed (you can use another eSim at this point, I verified with an IMEI checker and it said UNLOCKED)
Cancellation process: (to be performed AFTER you unlock the phone), If you bought in-store on Friday like I did, you should have until Monday to cancel if you call ATT. Or if you are like me and don't want the retention talk, use the following:
Get a transfer PIN:
To get your AT&T Number Transfer PIN, you can:
  1. Go to your myAT&T profile
  2. Select People & permissions
  3. Select Wireless
  4. Scroll to Transfer phone number and select Request a new PIN
With PIN in hand, transfer the phone number out of ATT to stop the billing. I did not end up paying an activation or any charges for these couple of days.

I got the iPhone 15 Pro, paid for the phone, and canceled the plan. I am on US Mobile Wrap (Verizon network + black sim) with Galaxy S 20. Requested device unlock from Verizon which was denied. After seeing an earlier comment by JollyCrib814, I successfully added my US mobile sim number on the second esim slot of the iPhone. Very easy steps.

- Log in to your US mobile account, My Line > Select your number > Transfer to esim (on the bottom right) > Provide IMEI of the phone (phone needs to be connected to wifi)> Follow the steps on the phone screen.

ESIM activation on US mobile might need 2-factor authentication on their site. I put the US mobile number as the primary and the canceled VM number as the secondary.
If you are on another NVMO (Redpocket / Mint) - switch to a US mobile for two months and keep using the phone. US Mobile is running a 30-day trial period, and you can pay for another 30 days (~30$).

Testing to see if US Mobile (Verizon-Warp) works on ESIM2:US Mobile eSIM installed into eSIM 2 and turned on, Verizon eSIM still in eSIM 1 but turned off in Cellular settings. Wifi turned off.Calls work. Texts work. Cell data works.Settings -> Cellular -> US Mobile shows that the iPhone reads the US Mobile carrier (using their Verizon option) as being Verizon. Carrier Services points to Verizon Services, with various Verizon calling shortcuts and a link to My Verizon.General -> About -> shows that US Mobile eSIM is using carrier Verizon 60.0, same as Verizon eSIM uses.
It woked for me. Thanks a ton.

To clarify for anyone else who might be reading this (the word "activation" is key here), activate on Verizon before putting in a US Mobile eSIM. Don't try to activate an unactivated phone on US Mobile, that could be catastrophic. Activate on Verizon, pay off, cancel Verizon account, put in US Mobile Warp eSIM (I put mine in eSIM2).
Once activated with Verizon you can also use other eSIM slots from service like Visible, US Mobile etc.. They are all on Verizon anyway.

Not on Xfinity Mobile, which is an MVNO of Verizon.

My 15PM, AT&T, was able to unlock exactly 24hrs after the phone was paid off (doing the esim swap trick)
However, since I ordered it online, it might take some time before I receive the Walmart gift card. Now I'm debating whether to cancel AT&T early or wait until the gift card arrives. Canceling now might mean I don't have to pay ~$100 for the first month's service plus the activation fee, but waiting would ensure I don't risk losing the gift card.
