Hold out for a series X again instead, or just accept this as the new inflated normal?

also -- buyer beware. I signed up for Verizon 5G Home Internet back in July when the promo was for a pair of those Meta glasses by Ray-Ban OR a $200 Home Depot GC. I'm still fighting with Verizon to honor the deal.

Same experience for me, I got this deal last year with the free Xbox Series X + Amazon gift card (ordered it on December 19th, 2023) and I didn't get my Xbox until May 9th. I called them like 4 different times and their overseas customer service just sucked (as well as their website and app). It wasn't until I got a customer service agent from the US to help me with an unrelated matter and I asked about my free Xbox and she was like "Oh yeah, hmm. Let me push a new order through manually" (Thank you Alicia <3).
Also, the 5g home internet kept having intermittent connection problems even though I am literally 2 blocks away from a Verizon 5g tower. It was such an annoying issue because I work from home. I cancelled the service exactly 1 day after the 6 months required to keep the promotional deal.

I've had this for 1.5 years and it has been great the only annoying thing is a requested a new modem over the summer and the only way they'd do that was to cancel my plan and have me start a new one... well jokes on them, it also let me qualify for another freebie so I got the 200 dollar home depot gift card and then the ray bans this year lol.

The service has been excellent for me 320mbps down 25mbps up. I'm in VPN 24/7 for work and do tons of internet gaming. More reliable than my Spectrum was and just as fast.

I always tell people two things before ordering if you have a 5g phone do several speed tests before ordering if you aren't consistently getting 500mbps plus (i get 800mbps) you aren't going to have a good experience on 5g home. 2nd, this needs to be placed near a window. I have mine on a window sill in my office, if you try to put this in an interior room it's not going to perform well, I'd also recommend doing speed tests on all sides of your house to see which side gives the best signal.

I have no comment on the built in wifi since I use a mesh network and just use the 5g box as a modem.

I pay 35 bucks a month for my 5g home plus, that's less than half what I was paying for spectrum and that's why I changed ultimately. As long as the 5g home price is cheap it's worth it. If they go up to 80 bucks a month like spectrum or others then it won't be worth the hassle of switching and finding the best spot for the box, etc etc.

Another plus is that when my neighborhood lost wired internet due to a hurricane. Mine was still working.

In my area, this has lower and more consistent latency than 5g tmobile, as well as the cable and dsl services. Cable internet is about 10ms higher. My home internet also appears to keep it's 300mbps speed when my 5g get more s24 ultra slows down so is not reliable to tether with.

On a good day, I can have 700mbps down. on my phone at my address.

Great, thanks. I'm a bit of a gamer so latency doesn't sound like it's a big issue, depending on location of course

The internet is terrible. I canceled after 90 days. Went back to fiber. Everything was lagging. Wouldn't keep this for 180 days not worth it

I have a tower 400 yards from my house

Last year you gor a xbox x and 150 back in credit cards gift card to use anywhere.

Im paying 15 a month for Verizon play that includes 2 streams netflix and hbo for 15.

Last year was way better

There is no way you got 700mbs on this package. It does not go that high.

Verizon has tiers. Max with straight wire is 400mbs on great day
Umm read it... I get 300 on this, 700 on my phone.

Setting up service was the most frustrating thing ever. I thought it would be plug and go. Apparently you need to contact support to set up. After connecting with 5 plus agents on phone and also chat, nobody knew how to do it. After 5 hours wasting my time trying to set up I gave up and took the modem back to store. Well apparently they don't take returns in store and a label with box will be mailed. Also my service was never canceled and they put it on my bill for 2 cycles.
