I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

Could you guys recommend a durable screen protector for Google Pixel 9? There are several brands on Amazon, but their reviews are horrible. Thanks!

Ordered on 11/22, Pixel 9 received yesterday afternoon. Now need to drop off the trade-in. Anyone was able to do a recent dropoff at store, how was the experience? Has it to be T-Mobile Experience store only?

My understanding is you can't return in store. You have to mail it in. Where are you seeing otherwise?

I have used Spigen cases for pretty much all my phones. The cases all have saved my phones from a lot of drops.

Although others have reported stores refusing to take them. I haven't every tried in-store so YMMV.

Ah I see. Sounds like something I want to try as well. Thanks.

Edit: Now I gotta figure out which ones are corporate stores.

Can you list a trade in device, get the offer, and change the trade in device once you purchase the Pixel 9?

At the beginning of this year, I dropped off two trade-ins for the iPhone 15 Pro in-store. At one location, the employee either didn't know how to process the trade-in or didn't want to. They claimed they couldn't find the submitted IMEI in their trade-in system and said they needed to consult the manager. After walking to the back office for about five minutes, they returned without a solution. I then went back to the first store where I had previously dropped off a trade-in. The employee there completed the process in about 10 minute.

I just chatted with online support and they say even though you drop it in store, it has to be packed in the box and they will ship it. They cannot verify the condition of the device and complete trade-in.

Well, if that's true, then I don't see any point in trying to take it to a store. I'd rather box it up and know the condition when I send it off than leave it for some random employee at the store that doesn't care what condition it arrives in.

And the stores are probably less inclined to take the risk of a trade-in for an order that was already submitted online/via phone.

The stores and the employees there get paid more to "sell" Smilie

But you have the issue of it getting lost in transit. Others have had that problem.

I just contacted T-Mobile via X (Twitter) and they said the old Select Choice family plan isn't eligible for this promo.

You can only drop off in Tmobile corporate store. Not the ones that are individually owned. Find a Tmobile location on website and those are the corporate stores.

I've done several trade-ins, both via mail and in store. I much prefer the store experience. The last drop off I've done was a few months ago when I got my kids iPhone 13s.
