I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

Anyone knows if it can be unlocked with third-party sites? If it's, anyone knows any reputable site to unlock the pixel 9. Thanks

Most of the "trade-in" ebay listings have "The phone has Shadow/Burnt-in Images" description.

Is that not an issue for a TMO trade-in ?

Shouldn't be. The criteria is only that the screen is not cracked, turns on, isn't locked, and has no water damage

No chance. How these sites operate btw is an employee with internal access is hustling money on the side and unlocking devices they shouldn't be unlocking. Systems are way more strict than they used to be years ago, with there being an audit trail for these types of actions

Nothing stopping you from doing so. No repercussions for you but there are risks for the buyer. For example, if you somehow close your T-Mobile account before the phone is paid off in the 2 years (yes there's a monthly cost for the phone, offset by the monthly promotional credit) and you skip out on paying off balance due, I believe the phone gets blacklisted.
I don't know why you say there is no repercussions for the person who sign the 2 year contract. He don't get to just walk away scott free if he does as you say he somehow close the T-Mobile account. He have to deal with collections

You're conflating the two perspectives. The account owner who sells the phone can do so if he/she can find a buyer. That won't affect the account or the promotional credits. There's no negatives or penalty associated with selling the phone if the account owner wants to do that.

The buyers gets hosed if the seller doesn't pay the bill as you say.
Phone gets blacklisted buyer gets hosed. Phone got blacklisted because the seller didn't pay his bill. Seller gets hosed.
If the account and or promotional credit isn't affected (good standing) then the buyer doesn't get hosed as the account will be current and thus the phone won't be blacklisted.

Will Costco actually take your trade in on the spot? I thought they didn't do trades. The nearest one that has a T-Mobile in it, is still 40 minutes away so not exactly a quick trip to check.

I went to my local costco tmobile kiosk and they didn't have anything like that.

Seems like the deal is dead. My co-worker was looking to trade in her Pixel 6 and the Trade-In Deal was no where to be found on the app or website.
Am I missing something???

I just pulled a trigger on 2 lines. Traded in 2 S20 FE 5G. Surprisingly, there was no $35 connection fee, only sales tax. I'm on Magenta 1.0 plan.

So the Pixel 9 cannot be unlocked until the phone is paid off in two years? (even though you are paying $0 for month in order for Tmobile to force you to stay with Tmobile for 2 years)
