I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

For the trade-in phone, do we need to ship back cable and other accessories that come with the old phone?
For every single trade-in deal I've ever done, you only ship the old phone. I never shipped them cables/accessories/cases. I would go so far as to say that you should NEVER send anything else because they may get confused or they may have a hard time removing your phone out of the case (i.e., if it's some weird nonstandard case).

I tried selecting the Manufacturer, Model, Memory, Color-> In that, the model did not list 10e/S10e. The closest was S10 which I selected. There is nothing to type...only select from their list. I had to type the IMEI though.
In the cart, the model of the trade-in does show as SM-G973U, which I presume is an S10. The phone is actually a SM-G970U.
What are my options? Go to the store maybe?
Are you trying on phone app? on desktop? what browser?
I would say you should try another method.
Here's what I see on my desktop using Chrome browser.
"Galaxy S10e" is clearly on the dropdown list (it's the 1st in the picture).
"Galaxy S10" is on the bottom of the same list.
Maybe you need to scroll UP in order to try to find the option for S10e.

Not sure if it was a script blocker that was running and I turned off, or because I entered the IMEI first and then chose the manufacturer, it now showed the S10e an option and allowed me to choose it. Plus, amazingly, its offering the full $799! S10e is a 7 year old phone! I hope the trade-in goes in without a hitch... I will try a store if thats possible...

Which phone with trade in value 800 is easily available online (amazon etc) for cheapest price?
Its letting me trade-in a Galaxy S10e for the full $800. You might be able to buy an S10e for less than $50 probably.

Financing Limit? I've never heard of such a thing, but I guess that's a plausible explanation. Either way, I have excellent credit and I've already figured out a workaround that worked for me. I'll post that workaround in an edit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/...e_go_over/

Every business that gives you an item on installments is basically providing you a loan, and have a financing division or subsidiary. Your financing limit is based on a secret formula of credit score, payment history, account age, and other factors. Redditors have been complaining about financing limit changes recently. Once you hit your limit, you are supposed to pay fully for the phone, but can had technical issues that you experienced (although not the only cause).

Online now, people have started to list them to resell. Funny thing is all Factory Sealed and Unlocked. Hardly anyone stating that it's T-Mobile locked.
Doesn't the phone need to be activated and in use on the designated number for the credit to be active? In fact, when I chatted with a TMo rep, she mentioned that the phone won't even need activation because it will come activated with the number (mine is an upgrade on the existing account/line).

I haven't even turned on the Pixel 9 I received and I'm already getting credit on the line (my bill cycle started a few days ago). I just shipped the trade in yesterday but it hasn't arrived to their processing place yet.

Most of the "trade-in" ebay listings have "The phone has Shadow/Burnt-in Images" description. Is that not an issue for a TMO trade-in ?
I just traded in phones, one is completely lost white color and everything is pink plus burnt in keyboard. The second one had black spot on the corner. Both had no cracks. Accepted perfectly fine in store

Great write up.

You can also use this app to device unlock if eligible. I already used it to temporarily SIM unlock my pixel 9 Pro XL, which is good for 30 days and can be done five times a year.

https://play.google.com/store/app...le.grsuapp

Temporary unlock does not allow OEM unlock, FYI.
