T-mobile has a hidden plan for 30GB data a month data plan (you get your own sim and need your own device).

I got a cellular modem for $40: https://www.netgear.com/home/mobile-wifi/lte-modems/lm1200/ [netgear.com] and was able to use it with T-mobile's provided sim card.

Call in or use their online chat to inquire about the "Basic Mobile Internet 30GB plan (SOC: MI30TE or MI30TI)". It is $15/mo but you get a $5/mo discount by using autopay.

If you can't repro then you suck. This also provides you with a phone number for the data account and you get access to t-mobile tuesdays despite it only being a data plan Smilie

Any tips activating this on a tablet? I'm specifically thinking the new iPad mini. My child in elementary school uses an ACC device for communication and the 10 inch iPad is a big bit for her to carry around when we go out. She's a big music lover and it would be great to avoid configuring wifi everywhere we go.

Does anyone know if this is locked to a location (home) or can this be used e.g. for a hotspot e.g. in a car?

can be used as hotspot... already tried inside my MR6400.

Lol, the plan is clearly indicating that autopay discount doesn't apply...
It is $15 for year here already, it is still $15

If the juice is worth the squeeze, get a 5G router. Depending on your area, you may better performance. I use a Cudy P5

It works with anything needing a sim card, you can use their online imei checker

It doesn't!
The plan profile excludes T-Mobile SyncUp devices, tested and no data for SyncUp devices

T-Mobile has a home Internet backup plan for $10 ($20 without voice line) a month that includes 130gb of data. Seems like a better use of anyone is planning to use this at one location.

So if you need a 5G router that you can't really modify (like radio signals) and want a zero dollar approach, you are correct. TMO will lock the SIM to the 5G Backup Router and you can connect that way. For those who have a 5G router, this route is not ideal.

But for the majority who probably don't have a 5G router, it's a great $20 option

False, had this plan for a year. I've had auto-pay on 2 of these lines all year no problem.

Happen to know if its speed limited or just de-prioritized?

I've been paying ($20+tax) for my Unlimited Car Connect (Mobley plan IFYKYK) from att. I think after a certain amount of data it gets deprioritized, but if you are connected to a tower that isn't congested its pretty dang fast into the 100's of GB.

Pretty sure just deprioritized.
It's also limited when watching FHD media... YouTube basically requires I fallback on my Canadian plan, turn on vpn, or watch at 360p...

If you want me to check anything specific, lmk.
Wife and I have been supplementing our Canadian lines with this

You may have other plan, not this one!
This basic Internet plan with 30GB data barely for less than a year, you claim you had this for a year.
Read the description, no Autopay discount clearly states the the plan description
