I got a cellular modem for $40: https://www.netgear.com/home/mobile-wifi/lte-modems/lm1200/​ [netgear.com] and was able to use it with T-mobile's provided sim card.
Call in or use their online chat to inquire about the "Basic Mobile Internet 30GB plan (SOC: MI30TE or MI30TI)". It is $15/mo but you get a $5/mo discount by using autopay.
If you can't repro then you suck. This also provides you with a phone number for the data account and you get access to t-mobile tuesdays despite it only being a data plan

can be used as hotspot... already tried inside my MR6400.

I've been paying ($20+tax) for my Unlimited Car Connect (Mobley plan IFYKYK) from att. I think after a certain amount of data it gets deprioritized, but if you are connected to a tower that isn't congested its pretty dang fast into the 100's of GB.
It's also limited when watching FHD media... YouTube basically requires I fallback on my Canadian plan, turn on vpn, or watch at 360p...
If you want me to check anything specific, lmk.

This basic Internet plan with 30GB data barely for less than a year, you claim you had this for a year.
Read the description, no Autopay discount clearly states the the plan description
