I got this when it was $1400 last month. It has only 2 RAM slots, and it's apparently picky with what it will allow to run at full speed, otherwise it'll downrate some third party sticks to 5200 MHz. People in the thread for the last one were exchanging their OEM RAM sticks as some upgraded to new kits. I got one of those and am running 32GB of the OEM RAM, and others are running 64 with third party. For storage, it has 2 M.2 and one 3.5 inch slot. The 1TB NVMe mine came with was small form factor 2230 WD SN740. It runs super cool and quiet, so no issues with thermals. No problems with CPU stability either after I installed the relevant BIOS update. Overall runs great with no issues so far.

You can upgrade RAM, SSD, CPU, GPU and WIFI card. Upgrade is not "impossible".
It has a 1000W power supply so not sure that is even an issue.

I've been waiting for the Costco iBuyPower with the RTX 4070 Super [costco.com] for $1299, this one sure is tempting though!

Pros for Costco deal:
- CPU
- RAM
- Storage
- Warranty
- $50 cheaper

Pros for Alienware:
- GPU
- Power supply
- Cooling (and noise)
- Brand reputation

great post, just FYI same specs (and $50 cheaper) as this frontpage deal from October:

Cash back was 15% when that was posted though. It was significantly cheaper at that time with stacking.

Cashback is currently 10% and it is 50$ cheaper so it is pretty much the same price. Am I missing something?

Can I just add standard memory to the motherboard on this PC?, some products from Dell are locked.
Which Dell desktops are locked? I don't know of any. They all use standard RAM.
Some systems might only have 2 slots meaning you have to toss the OEM RAM but at least you can!

Why do you say it's impossible? I haven't bought an Alienware in a while but I have an R10 that I upgraded the fans, RAM, and CPU. I still use it for gaming and it runs everything really well. I did do a fresh install of Windows and did not reinstall the Alienware bloat, but I have no complaints.
