My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

I'm considering it too, but my preference is to hold out for the Pixel 8 Pro offer which we should see in a month.

Do u just wait 2 months 2 unlock then? Or do u need at least a few months of service?
Nvm, 300$ for existing customers. New ones must port, pay for $479 to include 1 yr. Service.

Nice deal. Your title is a bit wonky, personally I'd remove the $500 off.

For comparison last year I got the Mint deal for a Pixel 7 Pro with 1 year of 5GB data plan for $389.

It was even better for me as I was able to get the same deal for $189. It was very very shortlived though.

Considering that deal, this is not looking much better as 5gb/month is enough for me.
But it's not likely that a similar deal will show up again anytime soon with TMobile acquiring Mint.

Just brought the 7a 11 months ago so not in the market for new phone. I currently am a mint member and plan on always probably being one. Can I buy now and just leave it in the box and whip it out after I'm 2 years on my current phone or will it be way outdated by than

Can anyone actually comment on Mint's service? Getting tired of T-Mobiles nonsense recently.

I only want the Pro to get access to the WB freq for car unlock.

However, Pixel 9 FINALLY fixes the broken fingerprint unlock sensor so that's a big upgrade for me. I have the pixel 7 from the last Mint special and felt a downgrade from pixel 3 which had a much better fingerprint sensor.

Thanks! In for one. I'll switch from my free airtalkwireless services to mint for a year and maybe switch back after that.

If I were to purchase this Pixel 9 from Mint, should I expect Ryan Reynolds to bust down my door and smack me if I weren't to go to Mint to port-in a number to activate?

For the 2 months unlocked period requirement, does it need to get cellphone service for 2 months? I got almost 2 months left on mint mobile.
