My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

Is anyone else having issues with finding the Pixel 9 when attempting to purchase as an existing Mint Mobile customer?

When it says the phone can be unlocked after 60 days, is that completely, fully, unlocked like the stock unlocked version that comes from Google or Amazon?

Mint Mobile/T-Mobile coverage is pretty poor in my area, so I'd need to switch to an AT&T provider.

Make sure you're logged in first. Are you on an existing one year plan?
Haven't been able to confirm if 3 month customers have access to the $299 pixel.
I had access after logging on by clicking on shop new phones on the tab on the left.

I just ordered 2 from this link: https://www.mintmobile.com/device...9/6810275/

$598 OTD to NH.

I wasn't able to log into my Mint account though.

Am I going to be able to add these two Pixel 9s to our existing Mint accounts?

If yes, will they unlock automatically after 60 days?

FYI - Mint chat agent says: We can swap our existing Mint sims into these new Pixel 9s and both will unlock after 60 days, which we can initiate via a chat session. We'll see.

I can confirm that you can order 3-month service, port in your number, have the account created and logged in. Then go to mintmobile.com homepage from the same browser session, top menu under Phones => Deals, you should see the Pixel 9 at 299. Click Details on it and the details page should not show you option to pick plan nor SIM type. It should only offer protection plan and a button to add to cart.

Edit: I added 3-month 5-gig service and used "freemonth" promo code to get it at $30 + tax and fees.

How did you buy it for $299 as an existing Mint customer? I mean that link asks you to pick a plan as well, right?

Thanks for that link. I couldn't find the pixel 9 on the website as I was logged in on my mother's account. I just clicked on your link I'm not logged into anything and it let me order. No port information none of that. Just a simple order. Hopefully there's no issues. It seems too easy. Haha

Shoot, wish I had known about that promo code.
Seems like there are 3 really good options here:
  1. If you're already a Mint Mobile customer, you can just buy the phone for $300. Insane price
  2. If you're not a Mint Mobile customer, you can easily buy the phone for $300 by signing up for a 3-month prepaid plan for $30 with promo code "freemonth". $330 is still an insane price, assuming posters suggesting 60 days for unlock are correct.
  3. If you're not a Mint Mobile customer and interested in becoming one, you can get the $300 phone + 12 months of Unlimited for $15/month. I'm guessing "freemonth" applies there too for 1 free month. Insane price phone + an insane price for the phone plan
