My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

Do you need 60 days of active service to unlock the phone?
Most are reporting that they got a "Your phone is unlocked!" message just days after receiving it.. I don't know if I'd COUNT on that, but it seems to be the common way it's working

For those with an existing plan, here's a screen recording of where to find the phone (after clicking Account -> Shop New Phones

https://imgur.com/a/5AWEVxw
It says "1 year of unlimited included" under the "View details" button, and under the "Add to cart" it says a port-in is required.

It does say that, but it doesn't actually require anything -- it will let you continue to checkout and only charge you for the phone. You can activate it with a new (or existing) Mint mobile account

Make sure you are logged in. I just went back in after placing my order, to verify the steps. And it had logged me off.
I was able to find it again by doing the following:
1. Open the app, click the account icon
2. Select Shop new phones
3. Click the "home" link (it will be home-->deals)
4. Scroll wayyy down until you see Google pixel 9 for 479.
5. Click it and you will see the 299 price
Do you need 2nd plan for this phone? is this phone unlocked?

I did not have to add any plans. I currently have a "family" plan with my account and my partners account (p1 and p2). I manage both through my account. However, this purchase through the app did not require any additional service etc.. It was 299 plus fees out the door. As for unlocking, I am not sure. Some users are reporting it unlocks within days, but the actual TOC says 60 days.

Maybe it's just me and I live in a metropolitan area but Mint service is great for us. So much cheaper than Verizon, no overages, no extra charges to Hotspot... win

Looks like it forces you to buy the yearly plan and make this $479 at checkout unless you're an existing user.

Wondering the same. I have active service on Mint pSIM with about a month left. I plan to activate this phone but will it still unlock after 60 days after service expires?

Does anyone know if you'd end up with an OEM unlocked phone, or just a carrier unlocked phone?

I'm an existing user.
Right below the add to cart buttom the fine print says: "Requires port-in from eligible carrier, purchase of new device on mintmobile.com and upfront payment of $180 (equiv. $15/mo.) req'd. Taxes and fees extra. Unlimited customer using >40GB/mo will experience slower speeds. Video streams @ 480p. mintmobile.com for details."
But at checkout I'm only being charged for $299 + taxes and fees. Am Im going to be charged eventually for a full plan? If I move forward am I going to have any problem activating the phone to my existing account without buying a new plan?
Thanks for the help!

I followed a link on the other post and it took me directly to the phone. I don't have a mint account. Wasn't signed into anything. It still let me place the order didn't ask anything about a plan. I wonder at this point if it will be already unlocked like some are reporting.
What link?

I remember a similar deal last BF. It was only 'in stock' for a short period of time before going OOS and then back in briefly, yada yada. Never could snag one.

This is correct -- If you plan to stick with Mint, the $179 price is great ($15/month for any plan, including unlimited). If you don't want to go that route, there is a $45 plan in stores (3 months unlimited).

There's also a free (or $1) 7 day trial I think, which MAY work, but I really don't know about that.
