You can buy the phone without the plan for $300.

My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

my current mint plan ends in 1 month, i would like to buy this phone for 299 and 12 month plan for 180, but i don't understand how to do it (. i need to transfer my number from mint to another operator and then transfer it back to mint?
This is my situation. I want to get the 9 and 12 month plan - preferably to start after my current plan expires although I am willing to lose a month since it would still be cheaper.
I guess I need to read through 17 pages of comments. Hopefully someone has already figured this out.

I was able to port out my mint number to tello and port it right back in to get the full 12 months. The whole process took about 10 minutes. Double check if you have anything on the account before porting out since you are losing your old mint acocat.

I believe you have 45 days to activate the pixel with the 12 month service after the delivery. I have seen others comments in the past (somewhere in the 17 + pages)

I didn't read the whole thread, so this might be redundant info. If you aren't a current Mint customer, you can buy the 5GB plan for only $30 for 3 months right now. Use the Freemonth promo code and you'll get the plan for $15 + fees. For my state, that came to $22. I purchased an eSIM, activated it on my current phone's second SIM slot and received a new phone number. I then used that number to log in and purchase the Pixel 9 for $299 + free shipping. No tax in Oregon, so total price for the phone is $321.

To clarify for those that said they think the orders will be cancelled, I have already receive a shipping confirmation and tracking number. That came about 5 hours after ordering.

Correction: service must be activated within 45days of purchase, not delivery.

Thanks for sharing! The shipping email can come in as soon as one hour of order confirmation.

I and my wife are existing MINT customers. I was able to find the deal (click around a lot and you will find the pixel 9 even if you're already a customer for $299) and ordered it.

Can my wife just stick her SIM in from her phone and we're good to go? Total price was $323.xx after tax.

Nice. I assume you did the $10 5GB tello plan?
I think lancerjin is saying we could buy the Pixel 9 + plan ($479) now and wait until later (up to 45 day) to port in number/activate it. That would certainly be nice. I am on the 15GB/month @ $240/year until Jan 15. I don't use 15GB/month, but going to unlimited for $60 less would be slick.

I just got the 299 price to work. As others said, i had to navigate around the app a bunch to finally see the offer. I did not extend my plan. Just the phone. This is great for replacing my busted screen pixel 7 pro. Never liked those curved edges and a replacement screen was over $200 anyway.

The code "freemonth" isn't working anymore for me, it says the best deal is already applied, so it's still $30 for 5GB 3 months.

Did the esim/new customer thing a few hours ago and still haven't received a confirmation email, nor is the transaction showing on my account. So not looking good...

Regulatory fees killing the deal(makes it $536 for TX). Any promo codes?
