i haven't used /e/OS, so my opinion probably isn't fair, but from what I've read GrapheneOS has a more laser-focused attention to (and better architected for) privacy and security on the few Android devices that will be getting consistent, long-term security patches from the manufacturer. /e/OS is trying to do some of the same things for a mish-mash of devices from many manufacturers. Their approach seems a bit less organized and focused.

My arm-chair assessment could be totally wrong.

There's plenty written online comparing them by folks that have actually used both and/or have more knowledge than me.
I appreciate your comment, and will definitely dig more into it. Thank you!

I've been an existing customer for years. I genuinely enjoy the service. I placed an order on the 29th, Friday at 8:45pm. I used affirm as the checkout method. Only gotten a confirmation email. Checked order status on the website and it shows no updates.

UPDATES**
An hour after I posted this I got an email from shipstation letting me know my order shipped. I've got a tracking number now! Finally

Yes I am also a new customer, ordered the $37 3 month plan just half an hour before that. Maybe it's luck of the draw, or maybe it's location based, who knows! I'll try and stay patient along with anyone else that hasn't gotten anything.. but l'm glad you have gotten something at least! So much for "free 2-3 day expedited shipping" for us that are left waiting lol

so you ordered the phone w/o a plan? i'm guessing that might categorize you as an "existing" customer as the phone wasn't bundled with the 1 yr plan.

Actually l guess technically you're right, l would have been an "existing customer" in that sense.. but it doesn't seem to be relevant
Guess l'll just stay patient for now!
Edit: l swear Mint is spectating this thread.. literally one minute after l send this message l finally get my Shipping email hahaha, to anyone else waiting a while, l hope you get yours soon too! Happy holidays everyone~

My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.Attachment 16723287

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking. Attachment 16723293

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!
When you were waiting for the unlock did you get a text saying it would be done in 24 hours? Also another text to the Mint unlock policy? Wondering if my unlock request was denied as it been over 24 hours and no email or notification on the phone.

Did you get a reference number for your request?
I was able to chat with a rep, provide them with my reference number from the case and then they were able to see it failed and needed more information.

Yes I have the ticket or case number. I know the chat rep said it could take 24-48 hours. I suppose I could check back tomorrow if it still not unlocked ask another chat rep.

Same here. Ordered on Friday. I had already written this off as not working in my mind yesterday. Yay!
So weird that they would not process orders in the order that they were received.

I received no texts or e-mails before the unlocking occurred.

In my previous message I said I had not received the promised e-mail. Turns out that was incorrect. About 1 1/2 hours after the phone was unlocked an e-mail was caught by my spam folder.

Hello <stlgamer>,

Your mobile device has been successfully unlocked. Thank you.

The return e-mail was [email protected]. Putting that domain into a web browser redirects to ultramobile.com. Apparently this backend office services both Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile which are both T-Mobile-owned MVNOs.
