One shouldn't have to 'understand.' If you sell a service and claim it as 'lifetime', that's shady. I support companies that do good like these guys trying to thrive, but don't pull that bullsh*t on your customers. It'll only leave a bad taste to your most loyal.

Was with AllTrails for five years. Despite having purchased a lifetime membership, they transitioned it to a paid subscription, claiming their definition of "lifetime" was five years.


Free alternative - Hiking Project. Doesn't have advanced mapping and route-planning features, but it's free/open source with downloadable maps. While it's not very effective outside the U.S., it's great domestically.

I tried Alltrails but had app connectivity issues. Switched to Outdoor Active and it was great in the Uk for me.

This seems to come up 4 or 5 times a year, but as Zephyr points out, a years' subscription will always include winter.

I clicked thru the deal and paid thru Apple and there was no room for the code.
Can I get the discount by contacting support or do I have to cancel and purchase thru the browser?

No this happens every year. The code is only applicable if you sign up on their site, not if you sign up using Apple's subscriptions option
