For some reason, this took a little bit of work. I've had two previous accounts that I've been canceled, but I wouldn't give me the offer so I had to use an alternate email address and alternate credit card as well to get the offer to work.

The CEO just let slip on an earnings call that Disney makes more profit on the ad-supported version so the ad-free price was increased to drive people to the ad-supported version.

The ads are pretty bad. They're frequent, 2+ minutes, and often repetitive. A $1 is a $1, but IMO use the paid version to watch shows, then cancel when you're not.

The ads are horrible. I initially had no ads version and the change is still shocking, lol, even after a year, smh. I mean, good gracious. And forget about rewinding!!! Have to watch the same ad. Ugh.

Since it doesn't appear that I can add this to an existing subscription, if I cancel my subscription, will I be able to activate immediately again using the same account or will I need to create a whole new account?
The new account will have to have a different email and credit card

As much as it kills me on principle to pay to watch ads, I can do $1 I suppose.

For people complaining about ads, it's $1. It's one freaking dollar. Talk about making a mountain out of mole hill.

People don't have a clue how expensive it is to create movies/television shows. If you're not willing to pay for the content, then they need to make back their costs and make a profit to take future risks by getting money from someone i.e. advertisers or the consumer. You want ad free? Pay for it.

Created a new account and clicked the link. Did the Disney+ plan and was going through PayPal checkout. Everything kept saying $2.99, I clicked submit and received a pop-up saying " you aren't eligible for this promotion". It then billed me $10.99. Guess I'll need to do a charge back
Chargebacks are not for when something goes wrong with an order.

You must contact a business and explain the problem and give them the opportunity to correct it. Only if they refuse can you open a dispute.

That's like police officer saying, "oh, look, a jay-walker, time to pull out my gun and shoot."

People like you shouldn't be allowed to have credit cards.

When I rewind past ads I don't see them again.

For those asking about the ads, most ads are 90 seconds for me. If you have an ad blocker on your computer and you connect it to your television, the ads are skipped. Same does for your phone if you have an ad blocker and you cast to your television. It'll skip the ads, but it'll also skip a little before the ad as well.

Pro tip, use the GMail trick to change your existing account to something like blah+hulu at gmail dot com.
Then set up your new Hulu account as your usual blah at gmail dot com.
This way you can keep using your established user ID and password, although your viewing history and such will be gone, if that is something that is essential to your existence.
