Yes. Troy-Bilt, Craftsman, and Remington are just some of the labels that are branded by MTD. This model has many different names (e.g. TB4218, CM4218, RM4218) and is a rebranded metal-framed Chinese clone. I have a Craftsman variety of this saw. It's fine, but it's heavy. The carb can be finicky and the chain(s) may need to be sharpened out of the box. $98 is a good price for this.

Depending on your budget, another option would be a Husqvarna also on sale. Stihl's, Echo's, and Huskies will always cost more because they're generally higher quality and serviceable.

I've been watching this saw and a couple of others. If you look at the reviews on Walmart 4 out of 5 of the 1 star reviews have to do with delivery not the product (hate when people do this). Taking those out it puts it more in the 4.5 out of 5 stars range rather than the 4.2 out of 5 which is pretty close to the other sites with this model. 4.5 out of 5 average is pretty good for any gas equipment, you're going to have issues, solid deal thanks for posting!

I've been watching this saw and a couple of others. If you look at the reviews on Walmart 4 out of 5 of the 1 star reviews have to do with delivery not the product (hate when people do this). Taking those out it puts it more in the 4.5 out of 5 stars range rather than the 4.2 out of 5 which is pretty close to the other sites with this model. 4.5 out of 5 average is pretty good for any gas equipment, you're going to have issues, solid deal thanks for posting!

Also Husqvarna has factory refurbished on eBay for significant discounts with full warranty. I know it's not $98, but if you want something a step up it's worth checking it out.

Depends. If you have a small lot and only basic limbing work, a battery or electric saw would be the easiest. If you have more tree work to deal with, an affordable 2-stroke like this one or the Husqvarnais a better option. If you have a ton of trees to maintain and don't mind the weight, a high quality 46-55 CC Stihl, Husqvarna, or Echo would be a good choice. Any 2-stroke saw will require mixing ethanol-free fuel with 2-stroke oil (40:1 for Troy Bilt, 50:1 for high-quality saws) among other more involved maintenance. Whatever you choose, please watch a bunch of related YouTube videos to better understand how to properly operate and maintain the most dangerous tool you will ever own. Best of luck to you.

An 18 inch chain alone is 20 bucks. I have a Husky 16 inch but this will be a great backup when that thing acts up (which seems like all the time). For 100 bucks it owes you nothing after a couple of seasons in my opinion. Just a throw away

It's roughly in the middle. I have the CM4618 Craftsman variety of this saw and it's ±15 lb dry. The 26 lb may refer to the ENTIRE package (saw body, books, guide bar, (2) chains, starter 2-stroke oil, scrench, and plastic blow-molded case)--at least that's how MTD packaged these in the past.

There are a lot of better choices out there if you want a cheap chainsaw. Amazon has the Pinkway 63ACK for a decent price and 63cc. I know Husqvarna has let their patent expire, so you're seeing a lot of 372xp knockoffs on the web for cheap. They all have OEM specs, so if you need to replace a part, there is an overflow of replacement parts on resellers for the 372. For example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CB11T...s-ingress0
