Apologies, I meant that it's fantastic for guitar. As it's an open back design, it will not have strong low frequency response, so no, I wouldn't recommend it for bass.

I'm a bass player primarily, but have one of these and it's fantastic for guitar. One of the guitar players I play with gigs with one or two of these routinely. He has several much more expensive amps, and prefers this, not just for size and weight, but for tone and simplicity.

Didn't these used to come with Vintage 30s?

Celestion V30s is in the Stage Right 1x12 guitar speaker cabinet. This amp has always come with Celestion Seventy 80.

I have V30's I can plug into the Monoprice (It has a speaker out jack).
The stock speaker sounds pretty good so I never feel like I need to swap anything out but people have tossed in Greenbacks, Creambacks and swamp things to change things up.

Would you recommend it as a bass practice amp?

I have this amp. I swapped out the stock speaker with a Celestion A Type and replaced the 3 preamp tubes with 2 JJ 12ax7 and a 12at7. I couldn't be happier with it!

This amp sounds great but mine has buzz that I've never been able to figure out. It happens on a D note frequency and it is quite noticeable unless cranked. I have tightened all screws, replaced tubes, etc but haven't gone into the chassis. Not going to pay an amp tech the same as the cost of the amp. Any ideas?

I have a around 25 year old mesa boogie subway blues and it has always had a buzz. The buzz is there as soon as you turn it on. when you a playing a gig or loud I can't hear it, but it has always bugged me and has been like that since it was new.

5 years of owning this amp, and I still really like it. It's easy to get a good guitar tone out of this one, it's louder than it looks, and the 1 watt setting sounds good too. The only thing I ever did to improve mine was bias it properly/less cold. No, it's not going to last as long or be as wonderfully easy to service as my 1966 Fender Bassman AB165/AA864 hybrid (with circuit components connected to each other via those old bulletproof, easy-to-work-on eyelet boards), but at this price, you're not going to be getting something like that anyway.

Absolutely love mine. Put a different 6V6 tube in and a new Celestron speaker over time, and it got even better. Great amp.

I bought this amp about 5 years ago. It sounds great and was a great price, but... it sadly died after about 2 years and 5 hours of playing. I took it to the shop and they said one of the transformers inside died. Not sure I'd buy another one... great value and good sound but the quality is sub par.

Sounds like a bad screen resistor on one of the tubes. I had this exact problem on my Fender Blues Jr. I had it fixed and the buzz is gone!

I wish they would make a bass version of this or even just a head. Wish monoprice would make more bass stuff in general!
