I asked the ebay seller about this, this was their response...

This Stand Mixer includes (1) 6 Quart Bowl, (1) Flat Beater, (1) Dough Hook, and (1) Wire Whip
Killer deal, and comes with 2 year Allstate warranty. Thanks!
Did a 6 QT refurb a few years ago. In hindsight we should have returned it as it made a slightly odd noise which we justified as normal howerver a couple years later the gears grinded down and wore out. Did a repair on it and it has really struggled since.

Meanwhile, the 4qt one we have owned and used for 20 years now is still going strong. Did switch to the 6QT as the primary unit when we got it but it was probably defective without us realizing it when we got it.

TLDR; if you get this and it sounds funny in any way exchange/return it.

i got a similar unit back in 2020, the refurb pro 600 direct from kitchenaid. not sure what the differences are. they sent me a costco version, which had an acual handle cover and was slightly bit more powerful. not a single hick-up in bread dough/pizza dough/cake batter making. i ended p getting 3rd party all metal attachments like a cheese grater (that actually grates, not just shreds) and an meat grinder. this mixer is a beast.

its a great price but does it comes with any attachments? attachemnts are $100 by itself and costco has this for 300
The Costco version is called Professional. It doesn't say 600 across the front. It's the pro 610, not pro 600. The bowl on the 600 has the shiny finish on the outside and isn't matte and they have different watts (590 vs 575) and come with different wire whisks. The Costco comes with the 11 wire whisk and the professional 600 sold by KA comes with the 6 wire whisk. Because it's refurbished, you might get one or the other like I did when I bought mine two years ago.

anyway you could describe the odd noise? i have watched some videos on these and they can be really loud so im curious what made it sound off to you.
Not sure how to describe it. Been around kitchen aid mixers my entire life (parents, grandparents) and my own 4qt experience before. Just knew it sounded different than I was expecting but I can't quite put my finger on what it was now. We thought maybe it was just a bigger motor, different gearing and that it was in our minds.

I have no regrets about buying it. It was a refurb that might as well have been brand new at a fantasic price. Just sounded a bit off and the gears grinded down on us and we had to DIY repair it. Just wish I had trusted my initial gut thought and exchanged it. I am probably going to buy another gear kit online from a different source and some better food grade grease and try it again.

I have been looking to buy a mixer for a long time and finally pulled this trigger. I don't use one often and this seems like as good as it's going to get.

I originally wanted the 7qt proline model. That one was selling for around 400 refurbished with an absolute low of ~290. The 7qt proline model ( and the basically equivalent HD6000 and 8qt professional) is the superior model but is no longer produced. It had a 1.3HP DC motor and I believe better gears train than the old bowl lift models. Now only the 8qt model is left and that one is significantly more expensive because of the commercial rating and warranty.

This one is a new model that was introduced a few years ago to replace all other bowl lift models. Unfortunately, this has an AC motor and the 3 variants of this model KSM55/60/70 are all the same minus the bowl size. The different wattage ratings have nothing to do with the motor; the same motor will draw more power with larger dough batches in larger bowls. From reading various sources, this new model is significantly better compared to the older bowl lift models that it has replaced. The motor might be better, and the gear train has been significantly improved to deliver more power. It is also significantly quieter. The downside is that the motor and the gear assembly are a single unit so it's no longer easily repairable.

Mr Mixer (a person who upgrades and restores kitchenaid mixers for sale) ranks this third in best kitchenaid mixers, just slightly behind the 7qt proline version.

I wanted the 7qt proline model, but given that it is 400 used now, this is a much better deal. Even at the all time low price of 290 this is still probably a better deal. The DC motor might have an advantage with very dense doughs, but these mixers aren't built to knead these types of dough to begin with. If you are doing exclusively bread dough you would need a different type of mixer.

It's the newer direct drive ac motor. Significantly quieter than the old models and "maintenance free" but once it's dead it's dead nothing to refurb the whole motor will need replacement.

I bought a refurbed pro 6000 (6 just means 6 quart that's how Kitchenaid works) back somewhere between 2011-2014. It's now 2024 and I am replacing it, but we give this thing a hot supper daily. We make our own bread, pizza dough and everything else under the sun. Bread is made at least every other day and pizza is once or twice a week depending upon kids. When it starts to go you'll know it. It screams, you couldn't miss it.
When it starts to screams, it means it's time to clean and replaced the grease on the gears, not run it till it dies.😉

I went to get everything to do that, and it was going to be like 160+ anyways to make sure everything was back to brand new. It still works fine, I just know it's on it's way out. Spend 160 on patching it, or 200 on a model that comes with a 2 year warranty. Hands down new one wins.

I normally fix everything (except microwaves, those are super dangerous don't ever fix one), washer, dryer, TVs, dish washer. Hell, I've even done a garbage disposal or two.

I ordered a new Classic model from Kohl's for $249 which gives $75 Kohl's cash. Is this a better deal? Would like to use it for muffins, cookies, pizza, tortilla batter prep. Please suggest.

Here's a comparison of the specifications for the KitchenAid RKSM60 (eBay) and KSM60SECXER (Costco), both from the 6-quart Professional series:

KitchenAid RKSM60 (Refurbished Model):

• Motor Power: 575 watts.
• Bowl Capacity: 6 quarts, polished stainless steel with handle.
• Design: Bowl-lift mechanism for stability and handling heavy mixtures.
• Speeds: 10 speed settings for versatility.
• Accessories Included: May vary, but typically includes a flat beater, dough hook, and wire whisk. Accessories are coated for durability.
• Weight: Approximately 29 pounds.
• Warranty: Limited, often 6 months (varies by retailer).
• Color Options: Limited, often one or two options based on stock.
• Price: More affordable due to being refurbished .

KitchenAid KSM60SECXER (New Model):

• Motor Power: 575 watts (same as RKSM60).
• Bowl Capacity: 6 quarts, polished stainless steel with ergonomic handle.
• Design: Bowl-lift for heavy-duty performance, ideal for dense mixtures.
• Speeds: 10 speed options, allowing precise control.
• Accessories Included: Includes a flat beater, flex edge beater, dough hook, wire whisk, and pouring shield. Accessories match the standard for new models.
• Weight: Approximately 29 pounds.
• Warranty: Full manufacturer's warranty, typically 1 year or more.
• Color Options: Available in multiple colors, including Empire Red and others.
• Price: Higher due to being a new product .

Key Differences:

1. Condition and Warranty: RKSM60 is refurbished with a shorter warranty, while KSM60SECXER is new with full warranty coverage.
2. Accessories: KSM60SECXER includes more accessories, such as the flex edge beater and pouring shield, which might not be included with RKSM60.
3. Price: RKSM60 is more cost-effective but with fewer color and accessory options.
4. Colors: KSM60SECXER offers a wider range of colors for customization.

Recommendation:

Choose the RKSM60 if you're looking for savings and don't need all the accessories, or the KSM60SECXER if you want a complete package with full warranty and color customization.
