But, I have an update. I received an automatic "system UEFI firmware update" today evening. After my laptop finished installing the update and restarted, my laptop started showing "Snapdragon(R) X Plus - X1P42100 - Qualcomm(R) Oryon(TM) CPI 3.24Ghz" as the processor in system information and task manager. I never checked what it shows in the BIOS.
Before this UEFI firmware update, I had already updated my windows to the latest update but the laptop was still showing "Snapdragon 8cx Next Gen". So, my guess is all the other similar laptop also had the same issue but they were updated to the latest firmware before you checked the processor.
It does look weird that Asus's out of the box firmware was recognizing the processor as a previous generation processor. Maybe this lowest tier of snapdragon x plus processor (X1P-42-100) is rebranding or slight modification of the previous generation 8cx processor. Or, if it was just a fault in the UEFI firmware, then we can never be sure about what processor is actually there in a laptop because windows will show whatever processor UEFI firmware will identify, whether it is right or wrong. .. just a thought. Probably running and comparing benchmark scores could indicate what processor a laptop has.

Does your trackpad rattle when you use it during tapping/scrolling?
Mine flinches ever so much near bottom (without actual clicking on the pad) and makes a small sound with chasis

I have not experienced any weird trackpad behavior. It's been working flawlessly for 3 weeks. Perfect for my needs. I was just curious about the whole X Plus processor not listed.
BTW, searching for updates on the MyAsus app found 4 available updates that, after installing and restarting, changed processor info to X Plus as expected.
edit: if you are planning to keep it, I would suggest you exchange or get it repaired with Asus. it is very annoying to use otherwise
