Leno returned to 11:30pm time slot

NBC Shakeup -- Jay Leno Comes Out on Top [tmz.com]

Quote :
We've learned Jay's 10:00 PM show will go on hiatus February 1. After the Olympics, Jay will take back his 11:30 PM time slot. What has not been decided -- whether Jay's show will be a half hour, followed by Conan, or whether Jay's show will be an hour and NBC says sayonara to Mr. O'Brien.

We're told Jay and Conan have both been told of the changes. As for Jay, interestingly, he'll get what he always wanted -- his 11:30 PM time slot.
No words on what will happen to Conan and Fallon... whether they both will get pushed back one hour of if one of them will be fired.

I prefer Leno at 11:30 than 10:00.

Jay Leno's last 'Leno Show' monologue [cnn.com]

I thought it'd run through Thurs. I'll have to catch it on Hulu. In the meantime, I read the transcript of it. Funny stuff. No doubt he's become a more polarizing figure after the O'Brien firing, but he's still has the best monologues.
And after eating nothing but military rations and school cafeteria food all his life, Principal Skinner thought his plate of Spaghetti-Os was the best meal ever.

You really need to see Craig Ferguson to get an idea of what a good monologue is really like.

Leno's monologue wasn't too bad. I thought it felt more rushed than anything. I mean, wasn't his last show supposed to be Friday? He probably wasn't aware his show was ending last night till a couple days before.

It would be hard for him to do that since he hasn't ruined it yet...

You're right because if Leno had ruined it, Conan wouldn't have been able to restore it to its old Carson/Parr/Allen glory, as he had for 7 months. So Leno will be the first person to ruin the Tonight Show, period, and we can look forward to years of lame Leno monologues with jokes that only the enemies of Dilbert (sales & marketing depts.) laugh at.

No way, that guy is boring. I saw a couple of his intros after Letterman that my DVR taped and it was boring. It was the one where he had an iPhone. I didn't even crack a smile once, let alone a good laugh. O'Brien and Leno give me good laughs during their monologues. (Letterman doesn't do it for me, either, but his interviews are great and he always gets hot chicks on his show, which O'Brien rarely does.)

I knew his last day wouldn't be today since NBC will air the Winter Olympics opening ceremony. I thought it would've been yesterday. Kind of weird why NBC cut out 2 days of it.

I meant his last show was supposed to be last Friday. I knew the Olympics were this week, but I thought that they wanted to end his show last Friday? Hence he might have thought instead his show could have ended yesterday, and then NBC told him Tuesday not Thursday.

Something weird happened at best. We were all billed that his show would end the Friday before the Olympics weren't we?

More of Leno's monologues made me laugh more than Conan's.

^ Phoenix, I honestly didn't know when Leno's last show was supposed to be. I haven't really been watching his prime time show other than the 1st couple weeks. I just assumed it would go until this past Thurs. night. Confused

Any word on what's happening to O'Brien's studio that NBC/Universal spent tons of $ on? I assume Leno will stay at his studio, but they'll probably redecorate it to make it look like how he used to have it when he did the Tonight Show. Again, just my assumption.

I should hope so, Lenow as on for like 18 years and Conan was on for 7 months. Leno is just too predictable IMO. I see his jokes coming from a mile away. They aren't creative at all. Conan pushes the envelope a little and I love his self deprecating style. The problem is, if you like that style of humor, you probably chose Letterman over Leno and are now hesitant to switch to a new guy. Not within 7 months anyway. Conan needed more of a chance to build an audience.

No one more self deprecating than Ferguson!

I agree, people usually like things they are accustomed to. I went to one of Conan's taping (Late Night) years ago and he was hilarious throughout the whole time, would engage the audience between commercial breaks and all, you could tell he really enjoyed his job.

Actually, once Leno left 1130, I quit watching late night shows. Letterman is snoozeville and I found Conan to be just awful.

Conan had his chance. I'd have a problem if he'd had only a month or whatever. He had plenty of time to perform (much longer than most shows are given to perform) and he failed to do so. So he's gone, like all shows would be if they sucked major balls.

So how do you know he sucked? You left cause your familiarity left, which is normal.
