Leno returned to 11:30pm time slot

NBC Shakeup -- Jay Leno Comes Out on Top [tmz.com]

Quote :
We've learned Jay's 10:00 PM show will go on hiatus February 1. After the Olympics, Jay will take back his 11:30 PM time slot. What has not been decided -- whether Jay's show will be a half hour, followed by Conan, or whether Jay's show will be an hour and NBC says sayonara to Mr. O'Brien.

We're told Jay and Conan have both been told of the changes. As for Jay, interestingly, he'll get what he always wanted -- his 11:30 PM time slot.
No words on what will happen to Conan and Fallon... whether they both will get pushed back one hour of if one of them will be fired.

I prefer Leno at 11:30 than 10:00.

I don't think it's a matter of being bitter, I think it's more that the only reason to ask Leno on his new show would be as a publicity stunt. Leno isn't a star, isn't promoting anything, and really has no business as a guest on this show. Conan would just be a ratings whore if he brought Leno in as a guest.
O'Brien could've taken the high road and say something like, "Leno being on the show is not on the immediate plans for this show" instead of making a lame joke on how Leno could be the musical guest on his show.

It's not a lie when you want everybody to know you're not telling the truth. Leno-loving losers who've been the target of Leno's pandering to the idiocracy may not understand that.
What's a "Leno-loving loser"? Confused

Do you really think Conan is interviewed so that he can give vanilla answers taking the high road? Yea, that sells magazines.

He did that in his closing "Tonight Show" episode, where he took the high road. Did you see that episode? Anyway, it doesn't matter. I already predicted FAIL for his TBS show. He should've stayed on a free channel, like FOX or ABC.

I'll Hulu it since I'm curious how it'll be. I do hope O'Brien the best, unlike some Leno haters here who wish Jay the worst, but I predict going to TBS in a market where more and more people are dumping cable/satellite in favor of OTA, it was a bad move. Yes, I know there's free ways to see his show, like Hulu that I mentioned. But still, for advertisers, ratings are more important on TV than on Hulu.

Will Conan O'Brien live up to the 'Conan' hype? [cnn.com]

In terms of ratings expectations:
Quote :
...
Gorman explained that a "1.0 rating" for the coveted age group of adults 18 to 49 translates to about 1.3 million viewers. For the week ending October 29, CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" bested NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" with a 1.0 rating versus a 0.9 rating respectively, marking the first time Letterman had beaten Leno in that demo since the latter's return to "The Tonight Show."

A series like syndicated episodes of "Family Guy" is considered very successful, Gorman said, and that week received a 0.9 rating.

"If [O'Brien] averages a 1.0 rating that's huge, pop the cork time at TBS" Gorman said. "My guess is TBS would be happy with a 0.9, they would be happy with 0.7. At 0.6 it starts approaching low 'Jon Stewart' levels."

He had to take the high road, he had a 'keep your mouth shut' severance package, embargoed until the day he gave that 60 Minutes interview.

Jon Stewart has been on the air for like 10 years and wins the emmy practically every year, is it really a knock? Or is it just that Conan is so much more expensive a show to produce?

Sure, but he could've still found a lawyer-safe way to diss Leno w/o dissing NBC.

We'll see once the dust settles. Of course, his opening week will have the show's best rating ever, other than perhaps his final week.

So how was his show?

Edit: I just saw this [cnn.com].

He did it plenty on the last couple of weeks, though arguably that was before his settlement. His final show was more of a farewell, he didn't need to take those last shots.

No comments about his new show? Must've been a snoozer laugh out loud. Assuming it'll be up on Hulu tonight, I'll check it out if I get around to it.

you do know shaggy's the most anti-leno person on these forums, and will argue anything conan does now is better/deserves better/yada yada.

There's another thread somewhere that was made for the start of Conan's new show where some people commented.

It was fantastic. Conan looked looser and more at home. Felt like Late Night. Conan and Andy were fantastic. The interviews weren't the greatest.

Tom Hanks is on tonight!

Yeah, I thought it was a good show minus the interviews. They were OK, but nothing special.

Conan was Conan. It was nothing special, it was typical, funny Conan. I don't know that I'll watch him that much in the first half hour, I still like Jon Stewart better, but I'll probably take a look at Conan the next day online.
