Leno returned to 11:30pm time slot

NBC Shakeup -- Jay Leno Comes Out on Top [tmz.com]

We've learned Jay's 10:00 PM show will go on hiatus February 1. After the Olympics, Jay will take back his 11:30 PM time slot. What has not been decided -- whether Jay's show will be a half hour, followed by Conan, or whether Jay's show will be an hour and NBC says sayonara to Mr. O'Brien.

We're told Jay and Conan have both been told of the changes. As for Jay, interestingly, he'll get what he always wanted -- his 11:30 PM time slot.
No words on what will happen to Conan and Fallon... whether they both will get pushed back one hour of if one of them will be fired.

I prefer Leno at 11:30 than 10:00.

That sounds like a good plan by NBC (for a change). So Fallon will take over in the spring of 2014 instead later that year in the fall? I know Leno's contract is up in Feb. 2014, so maybe it'll be a quick transition as opposed to having the entire summer off to transition like NBC did from Leno to O'Brien.

I wonder once Fallon takes over, how the ratings will be affected compared to what Leno currently gets. And who'll take over Fallon's show? Please don't let it be "I'm not Johnny" Carson Daly.

There was a "rumor", probably more of a wish, that it could be Tina Fey, given her association with NBC and the fact that her show is over.

Will there be any late night shows in the LA area after "Tonight Show" moves to NY? I pretty much only ever watch Letterman, Fallon, and Leno. After "Tonight" show moves to NY, all of them will be based there (from the late night talk shows I watch).

Jimmy Fallon is slowly transforming into a cookie-cutter late night host. He used to do like 2 minute monologue and now is stretching it longer and is making edgier jokes without apologizing afterwards.

I haven't noticed that. Fallon's monologues have always been short compared to Letterman's and Leno's. That allows Fallon to squeeze in a 3rd guest before the musical act. I assume that once he takes over Lenos' job, he'll have to go w/ Leno's formula of a longer monologue and only 2 guests (plus the musical act).

I hope he keeps up the tradition of the funny headline news. I guess Jaywalking will be gone, unless it's awkwardly renamed as Jimmywalking. Stick Out Tongue
