Former KBGT owner. The hot plate for glass carafes changes (ruins) the taste of coffee that's been sitting a while after brewing and you get a bitter taste. The entire point of the thermal carafe is that your coffee can sit hot for hours without any significant change in taste, something the glass one can't do.

I was wondering the same thing. I think the answer for me would be yes, since I dislike coffee out of stainless steel mugs. I went with the glass for this reason

Thermal carafe is more difficult to clean. Not what they asked but it's why I prefer glass, I can toss it in the dishwasher and forget it.

Dang. Really want to try the Technivorm, but my og Bonavita just hit 14 years and it's still going strong. Kinda wish it'd break so I can justify replacement. Not sure if there'd be much of a difference with the Technivorm besides aesthetics.
