The PS5 is the same price, it's not just Microsoft that raised prices, and allegedly MS is losing "hundreds" on each console due to the RAM shortage, although, I'm not sure I buy that personally.

Switch 2 will be $500 in September. PS5 is the same price as Xbox. Valve is the actually crazy one with their $800 Steam Deck.

I'd recommend buying used on FB Marketplace -- I've seen a lot of $300-350 consoles. Even a $200 Xbox Series S if you just need something entry-level.

Considering the prices of today, this isn't a bad deal. Is it a ridiculous price overall? Yes. But console prices went up drastically. Unfortunately this is a deal in today's market. Also, as someone who owns both a PS5 and recently bought an Xbox, if you game a lot and play alot of different games, then having Game Pass as an option can possibly save you money in the long run. I've played so many games on Game Pass that i usually would've spent a lot of money on. For me it's worth the price of admission.
