Previous deal for the S01-pF2043wb variant the other day @$140 appears to be the exact same specs and chassis. Likely a different SKU used for a different distributor, retailer, etc. They share driver versions in the support page and appears to include the same wireless keyboard and mouse combo as well. This variant does not have an optical drive in its specs, so the bezel is likely a blank slot. There should be a free hanging power cable for an additional 3.5 HDD but you will need a sata cable. There are two DIMM memory slots, with one being occupied by a stick of 8GB DDR4 2933Mhz.

Support page with specs
https://support.hp.com/us-en/prod...u=7Z6X4AAR

I'm likely going to turn one into a Plex media server since the i3-12100 has QuickSync. Maybe another for a light gaming setup for kids/siblings with a gpu upgrade and added memory. This appears to take a single-slot, low profile gpu which limits your options in addition to the 180W PSU. Some options, if buying new, include NVIDIA GTX 1650, AMD RX 6400, and maybe Intel Arc A380(likely no ReBar support from an OEM BIOS). XFX and Sapphire have low profile RX 6400 models that should fit. PCIe 4.0 is likely with the OEM mobo, due to being compatible with the H670 chipset, but could be PCIe 3.0 and would limit performance. I will update this comment with what I find when I receive my unit.

Edit: Came with SK Hynix 1x8GB single rank 3200mhz ram. 512GB SSD is Kioxa KBG50ZNV512G. There are two free hanging sata data and power cables. No optical drive, no SD card reader. Mouse keyboard was included. Booted to Windows desktop and idle was around 10-20w. Has space for both a 3.5 and 2.5 drive. 4 usb front, 4 back. Ports for Ethernet, VGA, HDMI, audio out, audio in. Mobo has free SATA port blank.
Couple of clues. Check the review's under this listing, some mention being surprised this including a keyboard which was not in the listing. The previous slickdeal post I linked also has people commenting it in the thread as well. Then there is also the HP support site for that variant, which lists the keyboard and mouse model (HP 510SP Black Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo). Looks to be your basic $5-10 office set if you need one. Wasn't able to find the support doc for this variant to confirm sadly.

This being a sff I believe you can only use a low profile single slot card. I don't believe a 1660 would fit in one of these. Maybe a Rx 6400 or a T600 or T1000. I think yeston released a single slot low profile rtx 3050.
Good point. I'm not suggesting to make it into a gaming computer. I'm just saying that in my experience, the i3-12100 is more than adequate for an average office computer. People working in animation, CAD, or video editing probably already know they want extremely powerful processors.

I have a custom case and plan to upgrade to an i7-14700 or i9-14900 down the road, but the i3-1200 has been impressive for the $90 I paid in 2022.

How will this do for NVR (network video recorder) using Scrypted or Blue Iris?

Can I add a 8TB 3.5" HDD to this?

I have an old i5-6500T right now. Not sure if this is better.

Still pushing an I5-6400 in one of my machines that I'm not using for gaming or anything other than typical work related stuff. Anyone know if this has 1 slot or 2 for ram upgrades? Figured I'd upgrade it to minimum 16GB and use it as is while I figure out my next serious work machine.

Yeston 3050 would probably be the most powerful gpu option in one of these slim desktops like Dell's Optiplex but not sure if it would fit within the 180w power budget of the PSU with the other components? If anyone knows any details that would be nice. My napkin math is i3-12100 @50-60w full load + 3050 @70w + 20-50w for everything else?

Would be much cooler temps over the XFX RX 6400 at least, that hugs 90c due to a poor cooler. The Sapphire fares better there.
180W should be able to drive any PCIe bus powered GPU, (they can only consume 75w max)

FYI: They're using eBay's AllState warranty and not warranting it themselves, which I've experienced to be a huge PITA at times.
All the extended warranties are a huge pain to use. I've used them all on appliances from home Depot or Walmart or Costco. They pay the lowest amount to get stuff fixed so that means either no one in your area will do warranty work for them or it will be the worst quality work. I've had the warranties save me from having to spend $400 to fix a dishwasher and completely reimburse a fridge BUT you often have to wait for ever for a resolution. Which when your fridge is dead and you can't wash your dishes, is it worth saving $400 to not have the item for a month while they dink around trying to find the cheapest way possible to fix it? I'm starting to think the warranties aren't worth even though I have had to use them on every major appliance purchase I've bought in the last 10 years.

Looking for something for my older parents who use for web browsing and basic email.

Isn't his decent? Wouldn't mind something with more ram since chrome tabs are pigs.

Better to get this and toss in some cheap 2x8GB memory sticks for longevity(~$30)

RTX 6400 recommends a larger power supply than this computer has. So does Nvidia GT 1030. I know because I bought this computer on clearance from Walmart a few years ago for $75, or at least a similar SKU, and cannot get it to power the cards reliably. To be fair, I put Ubuntu on this, because Windows is slow enough to be basically nonfunctional on this hardware, even with upgraded RAM to 16 gb, so it could be my incompetence with Linux leading to the cards not functioning. But otherwise, it runs Ubuntu really well, turns on in like 10 seconds and drives two monitors (one HDMI and one via USB hub). I use it for web browsing, coding in R/Python and for some home server stuff.

My plex server has been running on this pc for the last two years without issue, handles transcoding fine. I bought it new from Staples when it was on sale so can't speak to the refurbished ones.
