"They are manufactured overseas" is a funny way of saying "made in China". American Outdoor brands (the parent company, apparently) produces a lot of their products in China and complained about possible tariffs recently. They used to be a part of Smith and Wesson where...everything was made in China.
Just about 90% of these "American" companies are "engineered" in "America" (How, exactly, would you plan on proving that claim?). They avoid saying "Made in China" so they can keep the "America" part of their sales pitch.
Hooyman has none of its own QA as they don't even have a publicly available address. It's AOB that's doing it, and AOB is garbage.
Nowhere on their website do they say their tools are manufactured in the US. That is a huge selling point, so either their marketing team is chronically wasted, or their products are manufactured in China.
Hooyman's products are made by American Outdoor Brands (at least that's where the career page points to). AOB is not located in Appleton Wisconsin like the "about me" page seems to indicate, and no contact information (like company address) is found on Hooyman's webpage at all. AOB's manufacturing is located in Columbia Missouri.
Now here's the logic check - look at the street view of this company. Does it look like this manufacturing facility can produce all the products under the umbrella of "American Outdoor brands"?
Plenty of reviews alleging Hooyman products are cheap, Chinese garbage.

I think I'm skipping a Temu brand when a sharpened hunk of metal can fly off the end of the tool.
I think you meant skipping a Temu brand and getting the Hooyman, right? I believe this is a US company.
Very good price. My only hesitation is reviewers' complaint about getting stuck if not through. The skinny shape on the blade end supports that possibility. I don't think I can wiggle out an 8-lb. May need a sledgehammer handy to pound it through.
Hooyman is a USA company, I believe its in Wisconsin

Right. Best of luck to these guys advocating for Hooyman. Wear your steel toes (that hopefully are well made).
"US Company" means very little. Just because some guy in Wisconsin created an LLC and brand name to contract with a manufacturer in Guangdong doesn't mean it is any good.
Besides having some contract to use Smith and Wesson's name (probably on their Chinese made knives and accessories), "American Outdoor Brands" appears to be all "no-name" stuff.
I love my Fiskars maul, but it was probably twice this price on sale. If you need to chop firewood and occasionally have a sledgehammer, this seems like a solid deal.

I use this for swinging as my main workout now, back, arms, shoulders, trunk, even legs if you know what you are doing, AMAZING workout!
As a road worker, somebody who swings hammers all day, shovels, pushing through solid rock and earth, can confirm. I'm probably twice as strong as when I started.

"Our tools are designed and engineered in Missouri. They are then manufactured overseas and pass final QA here in Missouri."
So American? Sorta.

Interesting, I posted something similar to this a little earlier and it has been deleted.
