Looks like 2 RAM slots (1 free) and 2 NVME slots (1 2280 free).

192GB is technically the maximum RAM the platform can support, but practically you're limited to 48GB sticks, 96GB total.

If you want a FHD gaming laptop and you're not too concerned with portability (weight and battery life) then this machine checks all of the required boxes at a stunning price.
Review: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Len...325.0.html

While I'd prefer to see 1TB SSD, a USB-c 4.o port, and a brighter screen in a gaming laptop, at this price I'd be willing to overlook those issues. The RAM and SSD both have empty slots, so you can upgrade when the storage and or memory become an issue for you.

The one thing you can't upgrade is the battery life, so make sure that you can live with about 5 hours of non-gaming battery life. Having USB-C charging helps with that as you don't always have to take the power brick with you for charging on the go.

I found this to be the best deal on a gaming laptop with 4050 or better. It is the only 4050 or 4060 I see under $750.
I ordered this today for one of my children but I'm actually worried about the known motherboard failures with Intel gen 13 and 14 HX series processors. Lenovo has had to replace plenty of their LOQ intel motherboards.
Anyone know if a solution has been identified?

For those who are considering this. Installed is 8gbx2 ram. Can definitely be upgraded to 16x2 and some suggest that 32x2 will work as well. Also there's a second unused hard drive slot available to upgrade. The 4060 is the 115w variety for those comparing. For people that don't understand gpu"s under the same name come in different wattages and more wattage = better performance. Downside is more battery being used.

Battery is on the smaller side would be the biggest con that I could fine but most gaming is done plugged in.

Every published data i see on this laptop, as well as a few videos including inside of the laptop, show that this has one stick of 16gb and the other RAM slot is still empty. It also has an empty M2 slot for second SSD (2280 size m2)

The manual online says otherwise about the ram but I sure hope you're correct.

That's good, as I hate when manufacturers pull bastard moves like Apple does by soldering on Memory and SSD! Soldered either of those would be a deal killer for me!

This is the perfect deal at the perfect price point. The reasoning is that you don't want to overpay extra $180 for 4070, if you only have 1080p screen, making 4060/1080p ideal. Also this laptop features 2 ssd slots, integrated gpu and 10 - core cpu, making it a perfect combination. You don't want to be stuck buying anything fewer than 8 cores in 2024.

Isn't having 8GBx2 dual channel configuration more preferable compared to 1x16? And if you want to upgrade you can't just add another 16GB stick, you need to throw out your existing stick and buy a 16x2 kit.

Supposely a firmware update was provided..

Most of the people with issues on reddit seem to be from India. Maybe their ambient temperature or local production line is a factor to the hardware failing

I ordered the Legion T5 desktop for my son from b&h last week but FedEx delivered it to the wrong house and told me to kick rocks, so I need to buy him a new gaming PC. I know the desktop would have been way better, but would this be pretty good for gaming? Would love to get another legion, but can't find them less that $1000 now 😓

Laptops and desktop should be considered in different categories. If you were originally wanting desktop, then you should continue looking for desktop. The portability that you get with a laptop comes at a cost to performance and your wallet, and you generally lose most of the upgradeability when choosing a laptop over desktop.
